Probably the best meal we have had in a long time. Service and attention to detail was superb and the food outstanding. Can't recommend it highly enough.

I had crispy fish with mango salad made with Cornish Pollack, with Feather Drop Hill white wine followed by Beef Rendang with Cornish beef. Accompanied by Santa Rita Merlot. It was a lovely tasty meal and I went away thinking how peaceful food is from this part of Asia and will definitely go again.

What a super find! Great location, intimate dining space and wonderful food served by Vicky and prepared to perfection by mum Valerie. Fal oysters freshest possible and fish and seafood as good as it gets. Lovely as Truro is, it's worth the trip simply for this sublime dining experience - these enterprising ladies deserve your support.

There's no doubt that the food at Tabb's is good. I would take issue with the claim of a weekly changing menu though. We went for an evening meal in April and again in July and encountered exactly the same menu on both occasions. Given that it's not exactly a long menu I won't be going again in a hurry. I do like a bit of variety.

I live overseas and have travelled all over Europe and Chantek is the best Asian restaurant I have found so far! I have never seen such a range of dishes on a menu. The fish wrapped in banana leaf was fantastic, spices, ginger, and vegetables inside, complex tastes that worked together well, the fish perfectly cooked and tasted good, flavour from the leaf, aromatic, not too dry, a quite rare perfect dish. Sizzling seafood had many ingredients, the best things from the whole sea, but still fresh, with a delicious peppery sauce Tom yum had authentic Asian spices, especially galangal, very fresh, vegetables still crunchy with flavoursome roots. Crispy fish and mango salad, was a totally new dish for me, perfectly balanced. Pollack green curry was the best fish curry I ever had, served with aromatic coconut rice and chicken in pandan leaf was tender with aromas of pandan leaf coming through. ice creams were a pleasant surprise with a tri of oriental ginger, mango sorbet and coconut ice cream. The new Bonada red wine was a really nice complement to the food and the Chantini a memorable aperitif served with a whole star anise. The atmosphere was beautiful with the lights and colour combination, not too bright, it felt cosy and warm, quite modern and beautiful, the staff were warm and friendly too. It was good to see the open kitchen, I ate on both floors , the upper floor was even more cosy. I would recommend this to everyone Jana - Luxembourg

I cannot speak highly enough of this gem of a restaurant. We were able to book a table during the Cornish food festival, and had a lovely evening. The waitress was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for her or the chef Nigel Tabb. An element of my dish was altered with no fuss at all due to my dislike of mushrooms! The waitress never tired in answered all our questions regarding matching wines to our food choices, and we were shown to our table when our first course was ready. The food was wonderful, our choices were the duck and venison and the deserts were luxurious with home made ice creams and sorbets. The meal was finished off with hand-made chocolates, a little bite of heaven! When you are next in Truro, in need of a fine dining experience, book a table at Tabbs.

The menu is brilliant and it was really difficult to make a decision. In the end I decided to go for my lucky number 23. It was delicious! You also want to try something with their home made sweet chilli sauce. We ate there three times in four days and didn't get bored. It's official, Chantek is my favourite restaurant. Not only is the food delicious, the interior is very well thought out and service was very good. I'll be back!

visited ASK this week. Service was generally good. Need to be more observant with drinks etc... and waitress dress code (or lack of!) needs seriously reviewing!!! Starter was fantastic (mixed mezze platter)... Pasta was okay... didn't have time for pudding unfortunately. A good stop for a quick pasta with friends.

We can always find an excuse to go to Tabbs because it's so good. Everything is sourced locally and cooked fresh to order by Nigel - you can even get a glimpse of him cooking your meal. All the food is cooked on the premises from the bread at the beginning right through to the chocolates at the end - everything is made there by Nigel Tabb himself, and boy, oh boy, is he a great chef!

Last night a party of 25 people went to a private function at the Alverton Manor Hotel. The building was beautiful, but it a shame that the food and the service didnt match. The menu was a very limited choice, 3 people went without a main meal as they hadn't pre ordered, and there were no spare steaks, the steaks and fish were served without appropriate cutlery, you had no choice of how the steak was cooked, food presentation wasn't to the standard to expect from such a place, coffee came before dessert, some of the staff were quite rude at times, and many members of our party were overcharged. I was looking forward to this evening as Ive heard lots of good reviews about the Alverton Manor, but I was very disappointed, and would not recommend it to anyone.
