A bunch of guys stayed here for the Boot Beer Festival. It's a great pub in one of the nicest corners of the Lakes in Eskdale. The pub had a wigwam style marquee and around 30 odd beers. We also ate at the King George the IV and were impressed with the food. Would return

What a find! We were not expecting to see a pub like this in such a remote part of the Lakes. On entering I was expecting a tiny traditional inn with nooks and crannies. However the place has been opened up and its a big room with very contemporary touches. Funky lampshades a big swish TV etc. The landlord has an old army vehicle to ferry his customers about too. The Woolpack it just at the start of Hardknott pass.

Good food, good beer in a great part of the lakes. Pity about the midges but you cannot blame them for that!

Brook House Inn – Holmrook

A fine pub in a beautiful tiny village. It has a cracking beer garden with magical views of the fells. I would recommend the Boot Inn

never go again have seen manager be very aggressive to young couple ( wife was also pregnant) all just because they complained food was poor. Rotten

We have visited the "Ratty Arms"for the last 5 years when visiting this area. The food has always been first class, plentiful and reasonably priced. The drinks are reasonable and there is plenty of choice even on the childrens menu.Definitely one not to miss whilst in the Lake District. The pub also has a pleasant atmosphere and the locals are a good bunch.

What a dreadful place. Our table was never cleared, and when mentioned to the barman who asked if anything was OK he reacted like Basil Faulty and claimed it was my fault and walked away!! I will not be going there again and would advised others not to bother unless they like sloopy service and rude staff.

Service appalling, food overcooked and bland, would never recommend eating here.

very disappointing staff where rude and food was tasteless especially for the price we paid and the amount we got was even more disappointing.

The Ratty Arms was converted from the old Furness Railway Station at Ravenglass and still retains a unique ?ailway flavour? On arrival there is a choice of: ?Smoking, sitting at large cubicle-style tables in the main bar area ?Non-smoking in a railway-carriage style extension under the wings of the station awning, with a railway engine fresco visible to those who face the Barrow end of the line, and ?Al fresco at tables situated in a paved part of the old station yard, ideal for a summer? day/evening. The cuisine is a mixture of home-cooked culinary delights, from Lamb Jennings at the top end of the range to a superb Club Sandwich for those inclined to the ?ighter bites? The quality is consistently high, the service excellent, and the ambiance most agreeable. Traditional beers are served with Guest ales to the Landlord? choice, and take-outs are available from the bar or kitchen. The pricing structure gives a day or evening out which is really good value for money, and which complements a day on the adjacent ?a?l Ratty?narrow-gauge railway. Well recommended. JS
