Anaz Indian Restaurant – DarwenWe have been eating at Sukhis since Sukhi took it over. We have never been disappointed with our meals. The portions are very generous and the food is delicious. The staff are very friendly and with a couple of days notice they will provide you with the meal of your choice even if it is not on the menu. We eat here at least once a month sometimes more often. On Friday evenings they now provide entertainment by a magician. We can guarantee you will not be disappointed if you eat here.
Raj Mahal – DarwenAlthough we live 200 miles from Sukhis,we visit the restaurant every time we are in the north. I particularly like the way the waiters discuss the menu with you not just take your order. The food itself is superb with portions being very generous. The waiter even enticed my daughter to try a king prawn bhuna (spiced down a bit) as an alternative to korma. I don't think she'll look back! All in all a wonderful experience and we look forward to our next visit. Highly recommended.
Raj Mahal – DarwenI've been eating here for about 4/5 years now and I've never been disappointed - I must have eaten about every vegetarian dish on the menu and they have always been brilliant! The staff are always friendly and welcoming as well.
Raj Mahal – DarwenWe've been coming to Sukhi's for over 5 years and eat here at least once a week and very often twice, usually on a Saturday and mid-week. Over this time, between us we must have had just about every dish on the menu and never been disappointed. What's more, if you want to vary a dish or fancy something that you can't see on the menu, the chef will always cook it to suit your taste - making it an endless choice! The staff are very friendly, efficient and nothing is too much trouble to them. I've recommended Sukhi's to lots of people and they all agree that it's a great place to eat.
Raj Mahal – Darweni have been eating at the anaz for at least 25 years the food and service has always be fantastic. i have eaten Indian food all over England and never had better. first class
Anaz Indian Restaurant – DarwenI eat at Sukhis all the time and his food is delicious. He's a great host and all the staff welcoming and confident in serving customers.I have visited as part of a large group and for a good meal and gossip with a friend and always the service is great and the atmosphere relaxed. If you cannot make up your mind from the menu Sukhi is always happy to discuss your likes and dislikes and offer suggestions .I have never been disappointed with his suggestions. The recent refurbishment has given the restaurant a more modern feel whilst keeping the warm welcoming feel to the place .Sukhis is without doubt the best Indian restaurant around
Raj Mahal – DarwenThis was some of the worst food I have ever had! I ordered a mixed chicken and donner kebab and it was so greasy the pitta bread was literally dripping with oil! I had eaten a few pieces of chicken before I realised this which made me sick all night. If you value your health and don't want to end up in A&E with severe food poisoning DON'T eat here.
Godfather Pizza House – Darweni love godfather's pizza, its food and service are top class. Try their calzone! They're really good.
Godfather Pizza House – DarwenWent last night. We were the only people in . Service appalling - didn't get a cocktail I ordered and the wine with the meal didn;t come until we were half way through. It took two and a half hours from beginning to end. Far too long. Food OK but overpriced. not good value for money. Not enough staff on. Sorry.
Springbank Manor – DarwenJust looked at their website: Mangiamo has been succesfully run for the past 12 years by Mr Vassilis Vassiliou, a Greek Cypriot who is also a partner in the excellent Latino Lounge Restaurant & wine Bar in Bolton for the past 12 months along with partners Claire Lucas and Halil Orhanli. Very authentic. And: Specialising in the highest quality authentic Italian & Mediterranean cuisine. Everything is mediterranean nothing is Italian - it's pizza and pasta made by Greek people... simple. Not the same in my opinion and you will notice if you know your italian food.
Mangiamo – DarwenPersonally I think this restaurant and its sister restaurant in Bolton (Latino) are imitation Italian and Spanish restaurants owned by Turkish people serenading as Italians because they have dark hair and a tan and have bad english. I have been to authentic Italians - Puccinis in Swinton for example and others in Manchester city and London. Let me warn you THIS IS NOT AN ITALIAN RESTARAUNT and Latino Lounge in Bolton owned by the same people IS NOT SPANISH. In fact having been to both places and noticed their similairites I can tell you that I never evere seen barbecued spare ribs, stuffed green peepers, fish kebabs or greek salad on an Italian menu. It is a con - if you have taste and value authentic Italian cuisine as I do then do not go here. If you like faux Italian pastas and pizzas made in a mediterranean style that frankly tasted bland and horrible then go here. I had a starter of mussels and scallops. The mussels were overcooked till harder than rubber (I have had mussels millions of times and never tasted them so bad) and the scallops were undercooked. The white wine garlic cream sauce required me to put tons of salt in as it did not have any taste at all. The pasta was even worse - tasted really tomatoey and bitter however like the kind you can buy ready made from Asda. The meat was awful and they left out the bacon and swapped it for prawns without telling me. My partners pizza was nothing reminiscent of Italy - stodgy with a mixture of random vegetables (mediterranean again - familiar pattern emerging). This was not stone baked or mozarella cheese. Dessert oh my god we could see the waiter literally pull them out of the freezer and make them on top of the fridge using Asda cream spray in a can as the cream! The custard was birds eye packet custard! The table behind contained pavlova, cheesecake and BF gateaux which were clearly the frozen kind left there to defrost - looked awful and were £4.00 a slice! I ordered creme brulee I could not believe the cream was stiff inside and the top wasn't even hard! Frankly there was nothing good about the restaraunt - everything was below par just like when I went Latino Lounge in Bolton (they are same owners). I feel absolutely ripped off and because of this I want to warn those of you who have tasted and enjoyed good Italian food to avoid thes bogus restaraunts like the plague. Do your research it pays. The con worked on me - the name sounds Italian even the sign contains a map of Italy however I firmly belive something is not quite what it seems. I'm not even a connoisieur of wines but that tasted crap too. Please do not go if you are a tried and tested Italian food lover like me. If you do decide to go I would like if someone could ask if the meat was halal as muslims do not eat non-halal. This would seem to indicate a turkish ownership. The fact that the bacon was removed from my dish also - muslims are forbidden from eating pork; there was nothing else on the menu with pork a distinct lack of in fact. Jus to confirm in both restaraunts I clearly noticed that they don't even speak in Italian to each other it sounded nothing like Italian and one one of the waiters was called Naz - a muslim name; not forgetting that Turks are predominantly muslim. Further they don't look that Italian if you look properly - they have a distinct tan and dark hair that looks more eastern med. The only thing that seems Italian is the names of some of the dishes which is basically pulling the wool over your eyes. On a positive note if you don't mind eating mediterranean food and aren't too bothered about very rich tasting food that is seasoned correctly you will like it. But the price will haunt you as it is not worth a penny I gave them. All in all I would have been remotely satisfied if I'd paid half the bill for the food - based on the phrase you get what you pay for. Personally I will never go again and as you've guessed not reccomend it to anyone. In fact in the future do as I wil:l without asking others first if I decide to go in a random restaruant becuase I'm hungry and think it is genuine because it is full of people just step back look at the menu the waiters and look for the signs.
Mangiamo – DarwenDined at the weekend, WOW!! A fantastic new menu so innovative, fresh and just amazing. We were told the chef had changed and you could tell, congrats to him! The chick pea burger was yummy, and the whole fresh fish of the day (bream) was the best fish i've had in a long time! I think this new chef is about to put Darwen on the map!!!
Springbank Manor – DarwenFantastic food, superb service, and a great 'all you can eat ' offer, makes La Salsa my favourite place to eat. The fish in batter tapas is second to none, my wife's favourite is the gambas (king prawn in batter) A superb menu choice and a pretty decent pint of cruzcampo make it a thoroughly enjoyable eating out experience.
La Salsa – DarwenI used to eat at this restaurant a few years ago, but stopped going as the service was quite poor. However, we visited on 1st May, and our experience was absolutely excellent! I think it is now new owners. The food was fantastic (especially the King Prawns in batter - MASSIVE!!). The service was probably the best that we've had in a restaurant for ages. We really couldn't find any fault at all, and we can't wait to return to try out the rest of the menu! We had an excellent evening, and it was fantastic value for money.
La Salsa – DarwenWhat a chaotic experience as a large group. Food was fine but the organisation for the evening required a lot of patience for us as a party, the presenting of food to individuals was loud and overbearing. Not a relaxing experience at all.
Mangiamo – DarwenSAT 28/03/2009 16.00 me & my wife decided on the last minute to attend and arrived without a reservation, the staff were very accommodating and the service was first class plus the menu concept and pricing of £7.95 buffet was excellent quality
La Salsa – DarwenDelightful and cosy tapas restaurant where you can relax and enjoy yourself whilst being tended upon by first class waiters/waitresses who serve with a smile and leave you at ease to enjoy your evening . So much do i enjoy this place i travel from Blackpool knowing a pleasant evening guaranteed.
