Sarah

I can only comment on the meal we had in the pub as we were not guests in the hotel. We tried to book a meal at the sister pub The Red Lion but as it was full they suggested the newly opened Globe. To our surprise on a Friday night at 8.40 pm the place was virtually empty (I'm always a bit suspicious of empty restaurants) but we had only just arrived from a long journey and had a hungry 8 year old. Menu very limited - no specials. Food took 25 mins to arrive which was ok but my sons chips were over cooked. If an 8 year old doesn't eat chips something is wrong. My husband had the 'New York Roast" basically a rump steak and mash. Steak was fine. Mine came 5 mins later but my lamb skewers were not charred, they were burnt to the extent they were inedible. We sent them back. 20 mins later ( by now my family had finished their food and I was starving) my skewers appeared. Looked ok on first inspection so I said the were fine but once the meat was prized off the skewer the pieces were still burnt on one side. Too tired to complain again I ate the good bits and left the worst. My husband politely asked for a reduction in the bill which was refused. Oh well - won't go again and somewhat put off the Red Lion too. They won't pick up trade like that. Good job Gordon Ramsay wasn't checking out the kitchen. No excuse for burnt food - ever.

Chulmleigh Tandoori always provides great food, both take away and eat in. We have been customers here for nine years and have never found a fault.

What a lovely place. The food was amazing - the best steak I have had this side of the Atlantic. Friendly staff and lovely gardens to walk it all off. Recommended and the rooms look fab too!

Great Indian food that is freshly prepared and is akin to excellent home cooking. My favourite dish is the prawn on puri starter which is beautifully sweet and sour and very tomatoey ! Very friendly service and reasonably priced so highly recommended. Dennis & Ann

Diane is a wonderful host as well as an excellent chef. Phil adds that little extra something that is hard to beat. Our evening here was the perfect end to our week in Chulmleigh. Mister Michael Winner, please take note.

The food served at the EOP is better than that served up in the nation's most prestigious venues. Prices are modest and represent excellent value for money. The Chicken Breast Stuffed with Wild Boar Sausage Meat is orgasmic and the Steak and Kidney Pie is pure sex on a plate! Graham's jokes are predictable, I think he only knows about six so you get them all eventually. For a village pub in North Devon this has to be one of the Nation's Hidden Treasures. The anonymous reviewer must have a hidden agenda, of the numerous people I have recommended not one has had anything other than the highest praise for the Food and Atmosphere. Top job Graham and Sue.

I have personally eaten @ the 'Earl' on many occasions With Family & friends. Every time i have been Sue has out-done herself with the food, whether Bar-snacks or Full restaurant meal. Fantastic! and it keeps getting better. Not forgetting Graham Behind the bar (Trainee comedian) They both make you feel warm and welcome in this lovely village pub. Always a good night guaranteed.
