Great character Pub with a somewhat quirky interior. Good food at a realistic price with excellent service. Set 2 and 3 course meals offering good value. Just off the tourist route but near Haytor Rocks, so good to combine a walk with a meal, Has a nice garden opposite. Parking is somewhat limited but available. Haven't stayed here, but believe the rooms are comfortable. Happy to recommend as well worth a visit.

I come here reguarly with family for any excuse that we can find - brilliant food and service. On my most recent visit a waiter approached to apologise for the delay as the Chef had made a mistake and so started a fresh batch, but it was nowhere near a long wait - just goes to show the lengths they go to to ensure nothing short of excellent us timer service. Will be back again for my birthday!

Found this pub on the sugarvine site and booked on impulse. Great food, tremendous value with 3 courses for £13. Will we be going back? Yes please!

Having fond memories of three corporate 'away day's' at Gidleigh Park some 15 years ago and now living in Devon, what better a place to return to celebrate my partner's big birthday in July! We took the plunge and tucked into the Signature Menu which was amazing - we really enjoyed the combination of ingredients and the way that the many flavours were differentiated in each dish. We were also surprised to feel pleasantly full rather than completely over fed and put this down to the lightness of the sauces. I'm really pleased we chose this menu as it made the occasion truly special. I'm now saving up for next time!

no reason to visit this pub......owners lazy, staff uncomfortable, chefs weak.. So what are you doing, go eat and be surprised

Had a perfect meal at Agaric. The tempura was light as a feather, the duck well-done as i had ordered it and the basil and green tea ice-cream was beyond delicious! they also catered well for the vegetarian, wheat-free eaters in our party.

Very disappointed - was part of the St Austell Brewery chain, but no longer although still have their menus, etc. I was told the special offer (2 steaks and a bottle of wine) was not available as there was no wine (house wine that was) I offered to pay extra for a different wine, but was told that was not possible!! We then waited for 40 minutes before our starters arrived although the restaurant was not at all busy and then one of these was not what we had asked for! Given that the food was passable.

One of the best Sunday Lunches we have had in Torbay, we will be in Torbay next week and will be calling again on Sunday, in fact we have just got your phone no on the web, and will be calling to make a reservation later in the week.

The Church House Inn was one of the reasons we bought a house in Stokeinteignhead - its a fantastic village with a brilliant pub. Anthony and Nicky have really got it right - very welcoming, great food, lots of interesting things on the menu including Dave's specials, as well as the traditional things like great steaks and fantastic fish and chips with really chunky local sourced fish. Great Sunday roasts too. Fantastic value - the the pub is buzzing with lots of people which is just how a village pub should be. Really recommended and they are introducing all kinds of special event nights as well including jam sessions on Tuesdays - huge fun! Really worth a visit - you will want to to go back! What a great place! Tucked away in the countryside and full of character. The owner has a high reputation already from his previous venue in Torquay and is a master patissier, that's if you have room after a delicious main course and starter. We went in December as a Party for a special and well priced Christmas Menu. Several also stayed over and were also impressed by the accommodation and breakfast. I would like to have taken up their Winter Warmer offer but unfortunately couldn't go in the week due to work commitments. However, I will certainly look forward to making another visit.

Lovely atmosphere in the heart of the village. Hosts Nicky and Anthony are very welcoming and friendly. The food is fantastic! I particularly loved the deep fried battered brie starter, then tucked into Dave's (the fab head chef) winter seafood chowder with crusty bread. . . yum. The only problem? I couldn't manage one of the delicious desserts, but don't worry, I'll be back!! Oh and my husband adds "terrific local beers, with guest beers too".

We went to the Linny Inn for our office Christmas lunch. I was slightly apprehensive as I had recommended it to my colleagues. But I needn't have worried, it was superb. A traditional Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, plenty of choice and all beautifully cooked. I've now been made social secretary!

Lovely, friendly pub. Good honest pub grub, not fine dining but cooked well and plentiful portions. The fish was delicious. Incredibly accommodating staff and very child friendly. Mind the beams.

Hard to find but located in the most idyllic spot and worth the adventure of getting there. We went for Sunday lunch and were very pleasantly surprised. Big thick slices of roast beef, roasties cooked to perfection and the biggest Yorkshire pud I've ever seen. Gravy was just delicious. I don't even know where to start with the pudding - the Banoffee pie was "to die for" and hubby said pretty much the same about his pudding. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. Nothing felt too much trouble and with a toddler and baby in tow they were very accommodating. Would go again in a heartbeat.
