Lovely dinner, as usual. Didn't have to wait and the waitress Sarah was polite and on the ball.

Visited 10th December 2014, although we booked and paid deposit for six adults we where very disappointed when we were given bench seats that in my opinion, was only room for four adults to sit comfortably. We were squashed in and the adults sitting at the bench near the glass partition had to slid along on their bottoms to get to their correct seat plus, there was not enough room to eat properly, I could understand more if we had, just turned up without booking but I Booked up and paid the deposit for SIX ADULTS NOT FOUR. Sadly the ONE waitress was rushed off her feet (there was only one waitress to serve pre-meal drinks,clear tables, take orders for sweets, Coffee and final bill, given that your restaurant was full to bursting point, quite clearly this is to much for one to handle alone.I hope your restaurant improves its service soon. The high number of customers should not be a cause for bad seating and delay lest customers like us be put off despite the good food.

The food was very good and the staff were very helpful and it is the best carvery I have been to for a very long time. Will go there again when going for a carvery.

We have visited the Carpenters with a large party and just the two of us. On both occasions we had a fabulous meal and the service was excellent. Its so good having a top class restaurant in the area.

The pub best in Essex and food to match the food is locally sourced and the Sunday roast is brilliant and desserts to die for and services is the best and very friendly .

1 st class food. Very friendly staff. Very reasonable price. I don't think there is any better in the Essex area.

could not fault the meal i thought at the price it cant be good how wrong i was all i can say is try for yourself you wont be disappointed i promise keep it up derby digger

I visit this restaurant all the time and it gets better and better!! Even when its busy the Managers get you in quick sharp and the carvery staff are always great!! All in all its a great place and at £3.50 its a real bargain too!!

I would phone and check if they actually have any food to serve before embarking on your journey to this venue. I have now had four non starter occasions, where-upon we have arrived at the derby digger, gone to the bar, started with a drinks order, to be followed by '' oh sorry, we've run out of food''. Who ever is employing the Managers of this establishment need to seriously take a look at what they are paying wages for..... Very, very, disappointed. Each time we have invited six of our friends and relatives to accompany us, and this Tuesday, 26 Aug., We had our fourth visit to this pub, to be met by no food. Thank goodness we can rely on the Toby Carvery at Runwell - They always have a hearty welcome................. I wonder how man others have had this disappointment.
