Warm relaxed atmosphere with GREAT food!! A' Hidden Jewel' well worth looking out.
The Wheelhouse – Falmouthi've just enjoyed a fantastic lunch at the courtyard deli. Fresh, interesting well dressed salad leaf mix with toasted seeds for added crunch accompanied a lovely potato, cheese and garlic quiche (that i can't remember the local name for). Along with this came spoonfuls of smashing cold salad bar goodies - i can thoroughly recommend the lentil, cinnamon and mango salad (i know it doesn't sound good but it was subtle and superb) along side the fresh local toms, cuc, and cous cous mix. Excellent quality produce and friendly service.
The Courtyard Deli – FalmouthA hidden gem in Falmouth- a must for any vegetarian. I myself am not a vegetarian but love the food- it's very tasty and healthy. I like having the soup and roll as it is a very good option for a quick lunch, but everything is good there. Their pea and asparagus soup was so good I went back the next day for it again! The only downside is that it's a small cafe so fills up very quickly, so go early if you don't want to be disappointed!
Pea Souk Vegetarian Cafe – FalmouthThis place is a gem! It's in the top ten beach restaurants in Cornwall. Don't be put off by it's name as it's far more than a cafe. It's a very cool bistro/ restaurant by the sea- serving good food, coffees and alcohol all day. I would particularly recommend you try and go on a sunny day or warm evening and sit 'outside.'
Gylly Beach Cafe – FalmouthIt's THE best fish and chip shop in Cornwall! You can get a take away and sit by the harbour, which is just behind the shop, looking out onto the famous, scenic carrick waters. Or you can eat in the brilliant restaurant- all very clean, with a modern yet traditional feel. The menu is very extensive with a guide to all the different fish and seafood. The helpings are huge (particularly the children's meal- my two girls aged 5 and 7 share one) but if you dare try the 'Moby Dick' portion. Out of season they do a 'senior citizens special' which was about £5.50 for fish, chips, bread and butter and a cup of tea! My mum who is 65 couldn't finish it! For the more healthy ones you can have your fish grilled with a salad on request. A brilliant twist is that the children's meal is served in a bucket with a free spade on the side. You must try it!!
Harbour Lights – FalmouthWe love going here! It's great for couples or families. The staff are very attentive and friendly, and make the experience even more relaxed and enjoyable. This is definitely the best chinese in Falmouth. All the food is very good and the early bird special is very good value.
Mings Garden – FalmouthGREAT. Atmospheric, brilliant service and knowledge. Fabulous food. A real find, but shhh, don't want everyone going there!
Provedore – FalmouthFriendly with a good atmosphere. Food is of good quality and reasonably priced especially sunday lunch.
The New Inn – FalmouthWe were recommended this bar from the very helpful chaps in the wine shop next door. And they were as spot on with their wine recommendations as they were with this place. I had a crab sandwich on foccacia - and it was possibly the best meal I've eaten all year; and that was just a sandwich. My husband had a cheese on granary bread and again it was done as a cheese sandwich should be, good bread and good cheese. Both served with home made tortilla chips. If this is what they can do with sandwiches, I can't wait to try their main meals the next time we're in Falmouth.
Shed Restaurant and Cocktail Bar – FalmouthCouldn't fault the place, just popped in for a quick bite to eat after walking the dog on the beach (just across the road) and ended up having three courses!! The squid, seabass and the honeycomb parfait dessert I had were all PERFECT, the best I've had in Cornwall... if not the UK, for a very long time. Waiting staff definitely went the extra mile and despite being fairly busy gave us a real sense of the personal touch. Not the cheapest place in Falmouth but worth every penny, highly recommended!
The Cove – FalmouthYou are probably wondering why anyone would comment on a Pizza Express, after all, you know you are going to get before you even walk through the door. BUT The views in this place are something else! This has to be the best spot in the town.
Pizza Express – FalmouthNicely decorated, gorgeous food and lovely staff. Best place I've been to in a long time.
Mango Tango – FalmouthBest pizza in town, friendly staff and really pleasant atmosphere- you haven't lived until you've eaten in da vinci!
Da Vinci – FalmouthThe food is quite simply sublime. My fellow diners, adults and youngsters, were literally moaning with pleasure. Book soon! you will not regret it.
The Cove – FalmouthGreat decor and very pleasant food. However, the service is AWFUL. You have to order at the bar as the 'waiters' don't actually take your order. On our visit our starters and main arrived together (!). On turning the mains away until we had finished our starters, the 'server' was extremely rude. When the manager came over, he was even ruder and accused us of having actually asked for the two courses together! We very nearly left after starters but were so hungry! Fellow diners also had problems. One lady sent her food away twice and never received a replacement. The staff are incompetent. Avoid this place like the plague, to avoid spoiling your evening.
Castaways Wine and Tapas Bar – Falmouthhad lunch here on sunday, service was ok but the food was dissapointing.the burger was tasty but served in a ciabatta roll which i hate.( ok, personal choice, others may like it, others also like chicken korma pizza, it doesn't make it right...what can i say!!!) nachos equalled overcooked deep fried flour tortilla wedges stuck together with melted cheese(microwaved maybe?)and tasting of degrading cooking oil, with average guac, salsa and sour cream. South Side in town do the best nachos.the battered fish was nice and obviously cooked in a different fryer to the "nachos". the chips were very good. a vegetarian option of peppers and feta was served in an undercooked and thus doughy parcel. the warm hummous lacked any kind of punch and the pita served with it was crusty and chewy in a -left around a warm kitchen as opposed to too long under the grill- kind of way.4 out of 10
Gylly Beach Cafe – Falmouthvery nice food, you can choose whatever you like to go on your pizza, friendly, helpful staff affordable good honest food!
Pizza Pantry – FalmouthLovely people, fantastic food! I have eaten here a number of times through out the year and every time has been fantastic. The staff are helpful and friendly and James the Chef regularly changes the menu to suit the locally caught fish and seasonal produce. A great find in the heart of Falmouth, tucked away down a little alley at the back of the Chainlocker, where I would also recommend a visit! Enjoy,
