On 19th January this year, six of us had a lovely meal in your restaurant which was previously booked. Our friends travelled down from north Lancashire and we drove up from Devon to meet at the Bulls Head. Today my friends in Lancashire and I received letters demanding £60 each for parking fees at this occasion. The company is Smart Parking Ltd. based in Birmingham. Tel:0330 135 9020. We would be most obliged if you could request them to withdraw their fee because we were using your car park. I would add that there was no barrier or any signs that were obvious. However, the food and atmosphere was fine, thank you for that. Graham Ash

I worked at Carluccio's in Hale for a couple of days. On the first day I arrived to find all the washing up from the day before was still there as they had no pot washer and no one else would do it and to make things worse we had to keep the back door closed as there was a rat outside the back door in the bins. Extremely bad hygene practices!!!

Just had a superb Sri Lankan meal at Sigiriya in Hale. The grills were brilliant (amazing lamb chops served pink) and every curry was a knockout (lamb on the bone, lentil and spinach, but especially mustard fish and - against all expectations - the hard-boiled egg). Come for dinner to make sure you get the full menu as the lunch is usually much more limited.

Found myself in Hale yesterday (16th Sept) looking for somewhere to eat. We were up for the day from the South East. We got lucky when we chose to eat at Victor's. Brilliant meal, service, décor. The whole thing! Would knock most Brighton's many restaurants into a cocked hat!

I booked a table here for myself and my elderly parents as a treat for Mother's Day. We arrived at 12pm, as did another party of four. Apart from the three of us and the other four people the restaurant was completely empty. The waitress went to sit us next to the other party at a table for two, so I asked if we could sit in one of the booths and was told they were all reserved. I explained that it would be a squeeze for the three of us to manage on a table for two and as it was directly next to the other party it may look like we were all one party. The Manager then said we could sit in the booth in the window. As the restaurant had only just opened it was still quite chilly, but the draft coming from the window behind us was unbearable, so I asked if we could move along to the next booth. We were told that this was not possible as this table was set for five and that they would be arriving in 25 mins. I explained that if we moved, our booth could be re-set for five as the booths are equal size. By this point we had been given the wrong menu... twice. The Manager was adamant at this point that we could not move, so I asked my parents if they would like to go somewhere else. We were told by the Manager that as it was Mother's Day we would struggle to get in anywhere else. Because, by this point we had decided to leave for numerous reasons the Manager said we could move to the next booth along, presumably as he didn't want to lose custom. I said we would take a chance finding somewhere else to eat and as we got up to leave the Manager started to get abusive and physically started pushing me and shouting at us to get out. I wouldn’t mind but we were giving the place one last chance as the food was on offer. We had eaten here twice previously. The first time we were given the wrong order and had to wait nearly an hour for our order to be cooked and served and the second time, my Dad’s meal was cold and had to be sent back and warmed up. Needless to say I wouldn’t step foot in this place again if you paid me. All I can say is... if you don't mind mediocre food (when it’s correct and hot), cold surroundings and rude abusive management this is the place for you. Alternatively, spend your hard earned cash elsewhere, we did and it was lovely.

Went with the family at the weekend . My partner and child had spaghetti carbonora was bland and flavourless. Had steak and potatoes . The steak was cooked well but the potatoes were obviously reheated and had a reheated taste . The ice cream tub on the kids menu was a small portion , on turning the tub upside there was a dead space of 1.5cm , a real cheat. The waiter said he would inform the manager and seemed irritated asking us why we hadn't mentioned anything early. There were a few glances over to our table by the manager but no one came over . The whole experience was very disappointing and the food was poor value.

This was our first experience here. We were using a groupon voucher which stated that champers cocktails were included, there was no choice, it was a simple buck fizz, very disappointing. The chateaubriand was delicious, can not fault that but not once in the time we were eating did anyone come and ask if everything was ok with the meal and even when collecting the plates not even a smile or word from the waitress was evident. We were sat right in front of bar where we listened to drinkers swearing and speaking loudly due to the amount they had drank, and that came from their mouth not mine. When finally asking for the bills was astonished to see that they had charged a gratuity of £11 which was inapropriate

Have been here on two occasions once with the kids & once without, both times myself & my wife found plenty to choose from & the choice & value for money of the kids menu was great too. My wife was particularly pleased with the bartenders recommendation of a sloe gin cocktail as well! Look forward to heading back soon!

Our experience at American Bar & Grill was a little mixed. Firstly the service, which was exceptional, the staff couldn't do enough for us...very attentive. Starters were really nice, although slightly over the top on the rocket but nevertheless. Unfortunately the main courses were a bit of a let down, the fajitas were under seasoned so the chicken...well it just tasted of plain chicken! The crab linguine was probably the pick of our meals but even that lacked a little flavour. The Chilli though was fairly inedible The minced beef lacked any texture (not steak mince). It was also too dry, my guess is it had been reheated one to many times. Fortunately the staff at the front of house made sure we were not charged for the chilli. On another note there was a large male party in the restaurant which seemed to grow as the evening progressed, the waiting staff asked if we wanted to move and although they were not bothering us we agreed to move so they could accommodate all their group together. For this the waiting staff provided us with a complimentary drink each. So to sum up, 10 of 10 for service, 5 out of 10 for food, I think that would be a fair assessment.

Sunday lunch at Earle, I had just finished watching the owner, Simon Rimmer, on the Something for the weekend programme and I must admit I like his style of cooking. The restaurant was set in the heart of Hale, the staff were really pleasant. The menu was simple and reasonably priced. But, there always is one, Simon please go back and teach your chef to cook beef, or better still use a better cut. I have never eaten , sorry tried to, eat such tough piece of beef. On mentioning it to the manager he simply said sorry. The lady on the next table also told the staff about - again there was no reaction - apart from sorry.

We ate at Earle last week - it was a gourmet night to celebrate their 2nd anniversary. The meal was incredible! Just gorgeous! The service was fantastic and we even got to meet Simon Rimmer who was as lovely in real life as he comes across on tv. I could not recommend this restaurant enough!

Earle is one of THE best restaurants I've ever literally EVER eaten at. Unlike some of the Manchester city centre restaurants and other places I've been Earle is always relaxed and welcoming. The staff are attentive but not over-bearing. The food is well portioned, well priced and well cooked. I would recommend this place to Everyone!!

Visited Earle for the first time last week and was impressed. The service, food and atmosphere were all spot on, and when the bill arrived we were pleasantly surprised to see that it came it at just £30 each, including our drinks. We'll be going again, and recommend it to anyone for a great meal out in Hale.

I only write this as Sam & his team deserve every credit for superb food and good service. They have created a varied menu, daring to include more unusual dishes as well as the normal crowd pleasers, to delightful gastronomic effect. They appear to really care about good food and the result is quality on the plate believe me.

I ate here last week with a work party of 17 people. The food was excellent - I ate ostrich and it was absolutely delicious. Very professional, friendly service, great atmosphere and fantastic cocktails! I will definitely be going back!
