I booked a reservation in advance however when we arrived there was no table reserved for us which was annoying as we had two young children. When we eventually found somewhere to sit the food was delicious I ordered the steak and ale pie , we were charged for adult meal for a child and charged for a pint of beer when we had a half. The manger sorted this out no problem. It was a busy day tables wasn’t clean and the bathroom were dirty with overflowing bins. Hope our next visit will be better.

Gorgeous location in a peaceful village. Chosen as it’s family and dog friendly. Didn’t disappoint. Lovely food enjoyed whilst sitting in the spring sunshine. Attentive and helpful landlady. Topped off with a walk through the adjacent nature reserve after our meal. Perfect.

Lovely old country pub, where the food is good, the atmosphere is good and it's good value for money! Have been twice in two weeks and plan to return again shortly!

Lovely, old-world pub in a pretty rural village. Beautiful interior, not gentrified, as so many now are. Friendly service, top notch food, and very generous portions. Lovely experience.

Good food at a sensible price. Staff very friendly and efficient . Not keen on dogs being allowed into restaurant. Good choice of menu. Definitely will make a return visit.

Our first visit yesterday for lunch with some friends and it certainly did not disappoint. Lovely warm welcome from the waitress. Excellent service and choice of food from a very interesting menu. We will be back.

Whilst out for the day we were looking for somewhere to eat. We found a hidden gem. The service e and food were amazing and the portions were a good size. An olde world atmosphere and everyone was very friendly

We were a family of four celebrating my daughter in law’s birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch at the Royal Oak. The staff we lovely. The food was excellent.

Lovely evening with excellent food and a roaring fire. Service was good and the atmosphere was very welcoming and friendly. Will definitely go back and would recommend.

Lovely setting we were in the area on holiday for New Year. Booked a table for New Years Day. Ordered steak pie which unfortunately had three lumps of grizzle and fish pie which was beautiful. We thought more veg would have been better. We didn't get offered a desert menu just more drinks. Bit disappointed as we have been here several years ago and the food was beautiful.

Amazing food, Beautiful venue and excellent staff. Very traditional old pub in a lovely setting. Cant wait to go back and sample more of the menu.

A fabulous meal! Four of us ate in the bar area which accommodated our requirements for a dog friendly evening meal out. We all selected the 2 course option which was excellent value and the portion sizes are very generous indeed. The terrine starter was a favourite along with the sherry trifle which was delicious. Great service, great welcome and great food. If this was our local we would be regular customers!

Lovely Sunday Lunch. We were in early so it was fairly quite, although more guests arrived over the next 20 minutes. Service was excellent and the food matched the service. We had a really pleasant and relaxing lunch in great surroundings. We loved it and will be back for more. I had the Roast Turkey and my wife had the Soup followed by Goats Cheese. Yum.

Had the steak and ale pie and beef dinner would highly recommend. Big portions
