Galley Hall – HertfordPhone Number for best fish and chips (Apsley Fish Bar) is 01442 26388.Try it for the best food and service there is.
Apsley Fish Bar – Hemel HempsteadHave just come back from the Hopfields, no steak no gammon and a small choice of what they did have, people were asking for drinks run out, no heating and no landlord and landlady on holiday. what a waste of time
The Hopfields – HatfieldThis shop holds a Fish and Chip Quality Award from the National Federation of Fish Friers. You can be confident of the quality of product and service in this shop.
Ridgeway Fish Bar – St AlbansNever had a bad meal! Enjoyed every visit.
Old Forge Toby Carvery – StevenageWe went to the Galley hall for an early evening family supper. Our party of 10 included a couple of toddlers, which were accommodated for, with highchairs, all good so far. As is the case with small children, they tend to have small bouts of general boisterousness. nothing too noisy and other customers did not seem to perturbed. After a lengthy wait to clear up our table, we were approached by a middle aged woman who i would consider to be the head waitress/bartender and were told that the children had been "constantly" screaming and that she had received complaints and if it continued we would be asked to leave, before we could pick our chins up off the table, she sauntered off!! Now you can imagine our disgust when 1) The children were generally quiet throughout the meal, to say they were constantly screaming for over 2 hours, is genetically impossible! 2) The other customers in our vicinity were waving and smiling at regular intervals. 3) The pub perturbs to be child friendly and has even recently added a playground at the rear of the premises! To say were disgusted is an understatement, we will never set foot there again and I would urge anyone with children or groups with boisterous individuals who maybe have a loud laugh for example, will be better off taking their custom elsewhere!!
Galley Hall – HertfordSpot on
The Nascot Arms – WatfordI have been to Emchai 3 times in the last 6 months. The last 2 times have been in the past 2 weeks. Yes by the looks of it the place is clean and food tastes good. I would however like to mention 2 of the most bizzare experiences. The last week I went..after the starters we were offered ONE finger bowl for a table of 6 people. We were told all of us had to use the same finger bowl as they don't serve seperately! I was shocked. If that's the case then why offer one at all?! Today i went again... As the plates were laid, out of curiosity..i turned the plate over to see where it was made in as i thought it was an unusual plate. To my utter shock the backside was dirty, full of curry!!! When i told this to the management..no apology was offered the plates were simply replaced by fresh ones. All we were told that sometimes the curry is not washed off. But they do it once in a while using bleach. who uses bleach for dishes???!!!I have taken a photo of it, wish i could post it here. I could not eat my food. The staff cannot speak english, not friendly, if u ask about a dish they know nothing, Toilets are not clean. There are just 3 people who seem to be doing everything, taking orders, serving ,cooking, cleaning etc. Sometimes the owner is there who is probably the driving force there. I am NEVER going back!!
Emchai Malaysian Restaurant – Barnetgreat food and good service. always delights each time we visit
Freddies Restaurant – St AlbansHalfway House has had a new chef since January and the menus and food quality are tasty and staff friendly. This is a great venue and easy to get to. You can also park easily.
Halfway House – RickmansworthWe come to your restaurant approx once a week, and just had to write and say in praise of one of your waitresses , her name given when asked was, Sandy.Extremely Very polite - Helpful - some of the other staff could take lessons from her how to inter-act with customers !Hoping you tell this person our compliments. Thank you so much.
Harvester – BusheyUndoubtedly the best Indian Restaurant in Hertfordshire. Quality food that you'll never forget the taste.
Turan Bar and Restaurant – HatfieldI was a big fan of Buca when living in the US, but Buca in the UK does not measure up (or Buca standards have slipped worldwide as I haven't been to a US Buca in years). The portion sizes are not as legendary as reported. The large baked pasta trio platter is actually 3 small dishes, which could be conceivably eaten by one (hungry) person. The fresh tomatoes on the Bruschetta were not ripe. Bad tomatoes are a sin in Italian cooking. Finally, the cannoli (dessert) should have contained a ricotta cheese based sweet filling (often containing candied fruit or chocolate chips but we could have forgiven leaving those out). Instead, it was filled with plain whipped cream. What?!? And the cannoli shells were not filled -- the whipped cream was sprayed from an aerosol can around the opening of the shells, leaving the middle of the shells filled with delicious (not) AIR! Not a nice surprise ending. Some of what you pay for at Buca is the service and the atmosphere: The service was OK, but the atmosphere did not reproduce what you find in US Buca restaurants and was missing interesting and unique touches such as walking through the kitchen to get to the dining room.
Buca di Beppo – BorehamwoodWe had a wonderful meal of fish
Miller and Carter – St AlbansI visited Forest of India a few weeks ago and I have been back several times. Its a great restaurant, food and quality is also great. I will definitely be visiting again soon. 5/5
Forest of India – WatfordI would give a minus vote if I could. Avoid at all cost. Had visited many years ago and now recently. Apparently now refurbished, can't see what exactly as the service, food etc. is still terrible.
Taste of China – HoddesdonWe like to say a big thank for the lovely welcome this evening from the staff, good food and the good atmosphere. It was our first time at galley hall and its going to be our favourite pub to chill out.
