I have never thought to pen a review before but can only say I must have been inspired! Whether it is the food, the ambience, the location, or all of these ingredients, I can only recommend Sheldrakes. Completely contented, is how I felt after my latest dining experience at Sheldrakes - A restaurant with panoramic views of the Dee estuary and to North Wales beyond. The warmth is in the welcome, a glowing fire, rustic decor, friendly and attentive staff, and a vibrantly diverse menu. I had to opt for the fish given the coastal location and was promptly served a Cod loin cooked to perfection in a complementary saffron and fennel seed sauce. A wintry afternoon watching the skies platinum shades fade and brighten in the River Dee over the Sunday Carvery; a summers eve taster of your favourite Mediterranean destination, complete with chilled rose; or a spontaneous treat for that special someone whilst the nightlights twinkle on the far riverside. The combinations would be difficult to recreate, as your experience will be unique.

I have been to lots of different restaurants all over wirral and Chester and this is by far the best , the staff are fantastic try the shabarni jalfrezi on the specials , ten out of ten don't bother going anywhere else.

I took very dear friends to the Cowshed for what I hoped would be a very special meal. What a disappointment !!!!!!!!!!!! We got ONE THIRD of what we had chosen and one main course meal was served with a piece of plastic bag probably originally containing the bought in veg. and 2 out of the 3 main courses were 'Sold Out". If my replacement veal was genuine veal then I certainly was NOT brought up on a farm. Of the starters the Deep Fried Brie was delicious but the other cheese starter tasted strongly of the OIL in which it had been fried. The 3 sweets were the only part f the meal that we could not find fault with. For this I paid a bill of £105.70 which at £35 per head was about 300% above what it was worth.

lovely meal - friendly staff - could have done with an extra person waiting on tables as the one person we saw was run ragged and whilst food was timely delays to order and get bill were quite long

This is probably the best Indian Restaurant on the Wirral. Very high standard from start to finish. Fine dining at it's best. The presentation of food is wonderful and the service is of a very high standard. I cant wait to go back with the whole family.

I lunch at 107 every week with a group of friends and in the 2 or 3 years we have been doing this, I have yet to have a bad experience. The service is excellent - all the staff are friendly and welcoming. The menu is changed on a regular basis and the chef's are innovative and always willing to accommodate our wishes. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Oh Yes! the food is absolutely great as well.

Just dreadful! Our party of 6 arrived about 4.30pm on a Sunday to a pre-booked table. We had 2 babies with us (both had lots of experience of eating out at lunchtime and late afternoon) so we were expecting to eat and be away by 6.45ish. Not too much to ask? At 4.50pm we ordered drinks and were told there was a 30min wait for food - surprising given the pub wasn't full. We ordered our food by 5.05pm and our roast dinners arrived........at 6.35pm!!! We complained, twice, and eventually were given the explanation that one member of our party had ordered a starter, shame on him! The starter in question was 2 stuffed mushrooms which arrived about 5.15pm. The rest of us had no starter, so an hour and 20min wait was unacceptable. If we had not had the babies with us, who were starving, we would have walked out and gone to pizza hut. When the food arrived it was dismal - they had run out of roast lamb and beef so only had chicken left. The chicken had been rotissieried and was dry and stringy. This was served with 3 small potatoes, 5 carrot chunks, mange tout (the only item that was cooked well) and a hard yorkshire pub. What was so frustrating was the menu looked really nice, with lots of lovely puds too. The wine list was impressive also. Sadly, by the time we had wolfed down our dinner, the babies were too tired to continue so we ignored the pud menu, paid and left. No apologies or offers to reduce the bill. My partner has written a formal complaint to their head office, we both had to have more food when we got home as we were both hungry and we will never go back again!

We have eaten here a few times lately - as a couple before our baby daughter arrived and now we go for a lunch as a family or with other families. It has always been superb with very friendly service and great food.

My girlfriend and I went to the wheatsheaf after stopping and asking a local man where was a good place for a Sunday roast. Although fully booked, the staff were friendly and told us they could accommodate us in an hour and were also helpful when it came to sorting out my vegetarian girlfriend. The food was lovely, we had a delicious home made soup, a roast and a homemade apple and blackcurrant pie which was superb. The converted cowshed makes a great place to eat, with a warm friendly atmosphere, and the meal was delicious high quality fare, which, at £13.95 for 3 courses was great value. We're definitely going again!!

Having visited once before and enjoyed the meal, albeit a little expensive, we were most disappointed on our last visit and will probably not return. Service staff very pleasant and things seemed reasonably paced until we'd finished our main courses when it took an age for the table to be cleared. Choice of desserts - as always in oriental restaurants were poor. My Crab & Prawn starter tasted of neither and resembled the texture of a cheap pork sausage. My battered duck main course was fatty. Pity!
