The Leader Clan

We took the kids here for their first ever Indian meal - the looks on their faces when they arrived were priceless but they absolutely loved it. Staff were so helpful in recommending food that the children might enjoy (but I did refuse to let them have the 'chocolate' korma!). The food is always excellent and we are becoming regular customers ... by the way, don't get the impression that it's teeming with kids all the time because it isn't, but I wanted to make the point that it is family friendly ...

Bengal Spice Restaurant – Holmfirth

my wife and i took mother and father in law to the fox house for the first time and did nothing but praise the service, food and the place in general and said its the best food they had ever had whilst eating out - everything is superb but especially the steaks, they are cooked to perfection + you get plenty to go with it !!! "try it you will not be disappointed"

Wonderful traditional home cooked food; meat & potato pie to die for and the chips better than mother makes!!! traditional ales weren't bad either!!!!!!!!! definitely worth more visits

1st November 2008. We visited this pub yesterday, and were very pleasantly surprised - both by the atmosphere, warmth and cosiness (open fires) and also by the very good selection of food. Perhaps a little more expensive that the average - e.g.£3.95 for soup - but a menu that offers some unusual choices - venison, salmon en papillote with ginger and onions (and cooked in greaseproof paper!!). Wonderful crunchy home made chips and well cooked vegetables. My husband said the Guinness was first class. We had prompt and efficient service and will definitely return. Our journey from Glossop over to Holmfirth was a lovely day out with stunning scenery, probably even better in the summer!

The Ford Inn – Holmfirth

brilliant, welcoming 'Yorkshire' pub - proper open fires in winter, extremely well kept & interesting beers (mark of a great beer pub is a good turnaround in barrels - nothing worse than stale beer). Food is 'appropriate' - this isn't a flash gastropub, but a good pub offering a wide choice of great food at all levels from sandwiches to the full roast. Equally welcoming to families or lone walkers. Best way to enjoy, is take in an hours walk in the pennines beforehand, grab a fireside seat & enjoy a pint & ploughmans,

a delightful pub in the Holme valley serving high quality homemade food- with particular mention to the homemade chips! i have eaten at this restaurant on several occasions and struggle to find a local eatery to beat it! the price is very reasonable considering the quality and with excellent service. highly recommended.

This is the best restaurant I have visited in many a year. The staff are superb and the Tennessee Steak is to die for. I am known as a serial complainer but The Foxhouse Inn is without doubt top of the premier league and you will not be disappointed. 10 out of 10. We travelled 15 miles to eat there and if need be I would walk !!!!!

The food was very tasty and good value. I enjoyed the free olives aperitif. The salad accompanying the main course was delightful, as were the home made chips. I chose pork fillet steak with a peppercorn sauce and was definitely not disappointed with it. I think we were overcharged for the drinks though. A very small bottle of orange juice was £1.75.

Although we did go on a Thursday night it was very quiet, though we wont complain, the service was A1. There was 6 of us in our party and not one bad comment from the starters to the main course, we all agreed very tasty, hot, and very well presented. We were slightly disappointed with desserts, But this didn't spoil our meal. HIGHLY RECOMENDED *****

Rock Inn – Holmfirth

Didn't actually get to eat here. After waiting 1hr for our food to arrive we decided to leave. You are not able to book for this restaurant and we were made to feel that we should have been grateful for even being given a table. If you are not a local don't expect good service.

Les Caveaux – Holmfirth

I'm a regular at Les Caveaux - always good for a girlie night out or a romantic tapas for 2! The atmosphere is great, with candles and dimmed lighting. (But watch your head ont he low cave ceilings!) Food is fab - and you get plenty. Lots of different beers on offer as well as great wines and soft drinks.

First time there, and once we realised that there was a room upstairs apart from the overcrowded downstairs part, it transformed into a splendid evening out. Very helpful and friendly staff and lovely food. Highly recommended.

The Farmers is an excellent local traditional pub. The ambience is friendly and the food is both whole and hearty and the best value for money in the Holme Valley. The staff are particularly attentive, there are good guest beers and on the whole it is exactly the sort of pub a village needs.

I ate here for the first time since it has re-opened under new management. I was happily suprised at the change in the layout and the new decor is much better than before. We chose several tapas dishes and enjoyed every one, especially one of the specials that evening - Rabbit in a smokey sauce! Lovely village eatery!
