Food was good but the room was narrow and the walls felt very close (it was two table width). My choice for lunch but not an evening meal.(Each to his/her own!) Staff attentive and very helpful. Does serve good food - even oysters!

We have just returned from The Box Tree after our first meal there, which was the fixed price Sunday Lunch. The meal was flawless and the wine, although probably more expensive than we would normally have chosen, was worth every penny. The bill came to what you would expect to pay in any good restaurant, but "good" just does not describe our experience.

I visited the Box Tree on a Sunday Lunch and had a fantastic time with my parents. I was also pleasantly surprised at the price. Sunday lunch was only £25 per head on the Prix Fixe menu, excluding drinks obviously. But for a fantastic meal, and a treat for my parents it was well worth it. Prix Fixe menus are available in the evenings during the week too and at lunches over the weekend so I'll definitely be returning.

A tiny but very popular cafe, close to the centre of Ilkley. David and Sam work wonders in such a small space, with a varied and changing menu that includes choices for vegetarians, with generous helpings of good quality food. There is a tempting menu of delicious puddings, to finish off with. There are no bookings, and you have to get in early to get a table.

have visited a couple of Michelin starred restaurants and the box tree is easily within this category. The ambience is romantic and cosy. The staff are attentive without being obtrusive. There was an extensive wine list which could have been daunting but the wine manager was helpful without being patronising Food - I chose the scallops with a creamy sauce which was good but overshadowed by my partners choice of guinea fowl with foie gras and lentils cooked in pork jus which was to die for. Main course I chose the fillet of beef and my partner had veal. Mine was outstanding whilst my partner said his was extremely good. We decided not to have deserts as we were full but these looked delicious. We finished with a desert wine and port which were both fantastic - my partner going for the ?elected port?which turned out to be a 1967 fine port (can? remember the name!) We asked for some petit fours with our wines (we don? like coffee) and the waiter appeared with a wooden box with hand made chocolates from which he gave us a selection. The total cost for two including pre-dinner drinks, wine and port/desert wine was £140. Not cheap but worth every penny and a very special treat. I would definitely go back.

It would be very hard to tell that Simon Gueller has just been in residence for a few weeks. The food was well presented and cooked to perfection. The front of house staff (managed by Simon's wife, Rena) were extremely polite and accommodating. Good restaurants are not just about the food but also about the overall environment and experience. Judging by my experience a Michelin star is not too far off for the Box Tree. Cost for 4 people was £230 incl. wine - a special occasion place!
