What a hidden gem. Unveiling food, staff and great price. We booked last minute and the staff where just amazing. So friendly and chatty. The food was delicious, the wine was gorgeous. Great ambiance and will definitely be back x

I visited the restaurant with a friend for a meal on Saturday night. Having previously visited I knew the food and service was of a good standard. However this visited was not a pleasant one . The waitress got the order wrong so starters and mains had to be returned . The manager did apologise and not charge us for the two items that were wrong . The waitress claimed it was her first night so maybe some staff training was needs e.g reading the order back to the customer. It was so disappointing as previous visited the service was Amazing

We were, unusually, going out for a mid week evening meal (reward for finishing the decorating) and were pleased to see the restaurant busy with people obviously enjoying their food. Our meal was very good (pizza / risotto) and we were very glad that we had chosen to go to Avanti!

Been using this takeaway for 15 years, a great spot and possibly the best takeaway in newcastle. Really disappointed to see some poor reviews as every time i get a order the food in spot on. Would highly recommend the chicken balls, the batter is fine and cripsy with a high quality chicken filling and an extremely low moisture content! my favourite takeaway dish in Newcastle

I agree with the WN review, though I don't think the guy who takes the orders is great, in fact, I've always thought he's not all there & I definitely wouldn't be taking him home, unless I lived in a psychiatric unit, good food though.

Curry and chips are the best !!!!

If you like curry made from a jar this is the place for you ,why not use fresh chicken instead of reconstructed chicken. I feel cheated will never recommend this phoney curry house to anyone.

Wow just got back from tour, thought id visit the old tandoori! After reading these reviews, I can only say the only outdated things is the reviews! The place is not as described, it looks fantastic like it always should of done, new member of staff now running the place, I think he was one of the original lads who worked there a few years ago, food was mind blowing! Out of this world fantastic! Definitely better than I remembered it last time (and food was always good), atmosphere was quite good havn't seen the tandoori that busy in years, so this new staff or manager must be doing things right a thumbs up for Newton Tandoori. I would definitely recommend them to anyone! A firm favourite for many years, food was always good and decor completely new (looks better than most now), City Council Food Standards Agency 5 stars signed and displayed on building, so I have only praises for them!

Exciting menu, friendly staff who are attentive without being over bothersome and delicious food. I will revisit in the hope that standards maintained - they can often slip with new ventures after a few months of opening.

Have used this takeaway for 20 odd years and have seen many many changes in ownership. It is nowhere near as good as it used to be, and often goes through phases where the food varies from very poor to excellent, at this present moment in time they are bordering on excellent, although my crispy beef with ok sauce is never as crispy as it could be, but I am forever the optimist that it'll happen.

My friends and I spent £24.75 in total , however as the establishment does not accept card, we split the bill separately. The takeaway agent rudely announced that because if this we didn't qualify for complimentary prawn crackers. We protested that we were together however were accused of forming a cartel to trick the venue into giving us free prawn crackers. This left us paying 1.50, which allthough is a small amount, the result has been to leave me feeling very let down by a venue i used to trust, i am dissapointed and will NEVER attend this venue. Th customer service is appauling and the rudest I have ever experienced! DO NOT EAT HERE!
