Used this takeaway on and off over the last couple of years. Fairly decent food. Went in recently to order some crispy beef noodles, went home and when opening it found there were no noodles. Took it back and told the man at the counter what the problem was. He blamed me for not giving him clear instructions and he didn't know his own menu. He asked for the extra money for the noodles which I refused as it was his fault for getting the order wrong. It is normal custom to offer the customer the correct meal in circumstances like this. He then told me to t*** off and gave me my money back. Never returning, doesn't matter if the food is decent if customers are treated like that then they don't deserve custom.

Food is absolutely brilliant. Been there loads of times in small and larger groups and always have a lovely meal. Good value for money also.

Been twice over Christmas, once with work party then took family as I was so impressed. Food fantastic, service brilliant, portion size huge! No booking in advance facility unless you are a large party, so get there early, I waited 1 hour to get a table - would wait again without hesitation - cant wait to go again! Keep up the fantastic work - well done.

Taste amazing

I have been a loyal customer of francesca's for 20 years since I lived in jesmond, not only is it the best Italian in the north east it might well be the best in the UK. it has unbeatable value for money.

this restaurant is THE worst place to eat in Jesmond. In fact, a sandwich from Tesco near by is better option then anything in there! Food comes in late, is over cooked, nothing on a menu is gluten free (so a great news for coeliacs) and overpriced! Don't go there, unless you can spend 100 pounds on wine to stop your taste buds working!

I have eaten here since it was first opened, and when Antonio had his first restaurant in High bridge and you had to take your own wine because he didn't have a licence. Francesca was a twinkle in her Mam and Dads eye !! Best restaurant in the area

Had an amazing birthday meal there. Food was delicious, staff were friendly and the place has a lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it to anyone! Thanks Ru!

Francessca's is a fabulous authentic Italian, which offers such an extensive menu choices for a very reasonable price! It provides a happy hour which can be very popular so booking in advance for big parties during peak times is advisable. A friend had their birthday party there and I can admit not one of us was disappointed with the service, quality of food or atmosphere. I would recommend to any in the local area and can guarantee I will be back again.

Amazing restaurant , fab food , really rustic scene and feel, great atmosphere and big portions , I'm always asking for mine to go , amazing pizzas , would never eat anywhere else and i live 30 miles away , i love eating there and the waiters and food is super , sometimes you have to wait a hour or less , but its well worth it, after all francesscas is affordable , good tasting , italian food which is of a high standard, i wish them luck

On Saturday lunchtime I popped into Bruges for a quick lunch with my sister. The weather was fine so we chose to sit outside which was a very pleasant. I had the prawn ans crayfish salad with lime mayonnaise and my sister had tuna nicose - both were absolutely delicious. With drinks the total bill came to £20. great value for money.

A lovely friendly atmosphere with reasonably priced delicious food. By far the best soup I have ever tasted. Enjoyed the experience so much I'm returning within five days with a friend making a return visit to Newcastle after 30 years.

I have eaten at Francesca's many times over the last ten years and it has never disappointed. Good quality food in a friendly atmosphere. It is a busy venue so you may have to wait for a table, but you can relax with a glass of wine or a beer, so no problem there. Parking can be difficult, so be prepared for a short walk and don't be put off, it will be worth it.

I have now been to the restaurant a few times as i am visiting people in hospital in the area, the food and the service have been first class every time. We went on Saturday night and at 8.30 expected not to get a table but they managed to fit us in. Great atmosphere and the staff are all very pleasant. Would recommend and i am sure we will be back soon.

Possibly the best value restaurant in the north of England if you get the early evening special - £9 for 2 courses (which includes rump steak and excellent fries) or £11 for 3 courses, which includes tremendous ( and massive) deserts!! A la carte is good as well, and great beer selection - over 30 beers, with a few on tap.

Cheap yes, but the food was awful. I had the Carbonara, it was all pasta, very little microwaved bacon and a separating ridiculously fatty sauce My partners pizza was dry and distinctly lacking in chicken. The service was good.

Went to Bruges Restaurant in April 2008 and enjoyed really good food. It's a tiny place, so not suitable for a big party, but really nice for 2 or 4 at a table.The prawn and crayfish salad did have only about 3 crayfish init (!) but was very succulent. Hubby had mussels, which were as good as the Big Mussel in town.
