We chose The Golden Ball to celebrate our 25th Wedding anniversary. The function room was perfect for approx 80 people with a band and space to dance, the atmosphere homely and comfortable. The staff accommodated us decorating the room prior and the good weather meant the grounds/lawn area and terrace was accessible too. The food was wonderful. All enjoyed the night. And the staff were attentive and diligent.

Second time we've visited the golden Ball Hotel.4 adults 2 children. On both occasions we have had a meal and drinks.bar staff very friendly and helpfull.meal was excellent on both accasions stayed for most of the evening fantastic location. No complaints a great place to eat and drink

Lovely little place. Staff were very friendly, location was lovely with gorgeous views. Huge portions and good value for money. We stayed in one of the rooms which was also excellent.

Our first visit since it reopened Five of us, four had Sunday lunches and a fish chips All were lovely, good sized portions and nicely cooked. Two young waitresses were cheerful and pleasant

Great location and a excellent sized room for our works party. Georgia and her staff were absolutely brilliant and very, very helpful. The food was fab with plenty for everyone. Will definitely be booking again. Amazing all round!!

Fabulous food, great service, very friendly, helpful staff, very reasonably priced food at this quality! Our dogs were welcomed too, On top of this it's in a lovely setting! All in all top notch

We went on the 25/06/2023 After being taken to a table with 3 chairs and a stool, we did a little furniture arrangement to feel a bit more comfortable whilst eating a meal. There were 4 of us and the bar seemed particularly busy as it was a lovely summer evening, never the less we were asked to order at the bar which didnt bother me. I ordered drinks and paid for the food only to be told afterwards that 2 of the orders were unavailable, by whom I can only assume was someone who worked in the kitchen so I ordered the cumberland sausages instead. For over £13 it arrived in a bowl with a moderately ok amount of mash, 3 normal sized sausages and a small amount if peas with a tiny jug of extra gravy (in the bowl too!). Theses sausages were no different to what I'd get in Asda tbh. The steak pie looked good, the burger looked awesome and the fish & chips was a decent amount. If there had been a sausage less in my bowl, it would of looked like a child's meal, I had severe food envy and we were never offered any change from the difference in price and I didn't ask either, I couldn't wait to get out of there. We were sat squashed in the corner on rickerty chairs, in a dark den. It's a shame but I won't be going back, the only thing good about it was the ladies behind the bar were lovely

Just love coming back to this pub. It's still my favourite pub ever even though we no longer have a caravan on the site behind it. Every now and then we pop back for a few pints of Zenith and a meal and it never disappoints. Steve did a great job with the place and the new owners have certainly added to the place. Great just love it.

Lovely place to eat with great views. Staff pleasant and cheerful. Food very good, all four of us had different meals and enjoyed them. A very pleasant lunchtime experience and we will return. Thank you.

I tried to phone to book for 2 days and nobody answered the phone, so I booked online. When we attended they didn't know about our booking. The table available was dirty and they said they would clean it. After about 15 minutes I went and asked for a cloth and the member of staff came and cleaned it. We didn't receive table service so I ordered at the bar. I then watched as everyone else (even people who came in and ordered after me) were served their food. Just as I was about to speak to the staff about this the food arrived. I had ordered a jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw. The cheese had been over melted in the microwave and I received the smallest ramekin of coleslaw I have ever seen. Not a great experience and definitely not like past times when I have been here. Sad!!!! I felt I was in the home of the staff not a pub. This business will fail in this current climate if they don't sort this out in my opinion.

Arrived slightly early for a reserved meal, & had stated were happy to wait but very unhappy Barmaid took us upstairs to be seated. Waiter apologised as stated had been a very busy day/early evening & we could sit where we wanted. Waited for 15 mins before going to grab own menus. Hubby ordered @ bar although table service did seem to be happening. Most of the staff seemed friendly, but often were nowhere to be seen. I waited @ bar for approx 10 mins for a drink! I faired not bad with my meal. Vegetarian lasagna was lovely. Hubbys chips were burnt to a crisp (I would have complained but he couldn't be bothered). Waste of a main meal as all he ate was the burger. My sons chips were fine though! I would visit again but only for a drink.

We found our dining experience at The Golden Ball an amazing one, the service was great and the food was beautiful, great value for money and we can't wait to return for another visit :-)

Fantastic views even in the rain. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Sunday roast is a must came with three lots of potatoes and three lots of vegetables. Nice touch was the extra gravy in a little jug. Sticky toffee pudding was delicious.

Lovely food. Great service. Awesome views.
