Whale Tail Vegetarian Cafe – LancasterThis Jewel in the Crown has been hidden away for far too long. Set inside a very tastefully converted Evangelical Church within the City centre, this is no ordinary Curry House. Having travelled all over the north west over the years in search of perfection, I`ve just about found it here. The Restaurant decor has a "WOW" factor as soon as you step inside where you`ll receive a genuinely warm and friendly welcome. The tables are set spaciously with the elbow room others lack. The service is nothing less than 1st class and the menu, though not large, indicates that what they cook, they cook well. This indeed was our experience during the whole meal, with dishes that you normally think of as fairly simple, even bland, being created with the flare and imagination to make them something special and different. In a nutshell, our 100+ mile round trip on a dank miserable winters evening, was well rewarded by the best prepared and served food I`ve had in years. We had to book a table in advance and I`m not surprised, despite being full, the meal was beyond expectations, as was the service. What a pleasant change to find somewhere that was so highly recommended and yet for it to exceed even those expectations. Excellence normally comes at a price, but not here. The value for money factor is beyond belief.
Sultan Of Lancaster – Lancastergreat atmosphere in this small restaurant. steak was great. bread was a bit soggy, but overall very nice.
Quite Simply French – LancasterA beautiful pub and the most heavenly food imaginable. Very much enjoyed and would recommend anyone who enjoys goof food to go there
Bay Horse Inn – LancasterAn excellent restaurant. Staff extremely friendly. Once you have visited this restaurant you WILL return again. The personal touch is beyond expectation. Julia, never forgets a face and you will always be made welcome!
Fortune Star Restaurant – LancasterA fantastic atomosphere, great food and something out of the ordinary for Lancaster and the surrounding area. Go for the Teppanyaki and try the miyabi deluxe for some tasty yet somewhat lively lobster, If you fancy something a little less expensive they have a wide selection of set banquets for you to choose from. What ever you choose the chefs will show off their culianry acrobatic skills for you!Swill it all down with some Ashai beer and to finish a little warmed sake goes down a treat.
Miyabi Japanese Restaurant – LancasterI have eaten here many times, good imaginative home made food, both fry-ups and healthier options. The Whale Tail salad bowl is particularly good. A pity it's not open in the evenings.
Whale Tail Vegetarian Cafe – LancasterWhen my brother suggested taking our granny out for lunch, I wasn't expecting to be eating at a gastro pub! Just off the A6 between Garstang and Lancaster is the Bay Horse Inn which seves top quality modern british fayre in the olde worlde surroundings of this pub. I had a sandwich filled with cous cous, chutney and carrot, and a lovely glass of Australian Shiraz. All my fellow diners enjoyed their lunches, and my girlfriend and I shared a delicious cheesecake with our coffees. Being a proud Lancashire lad I was also impressed with the pub using local Lancashire produce. Keep up the good work, we'll be back!
