Yorkshire Ladies Who Dinner

Good atmosphere, lovely restaurant, nice staff (although we were ignored on the way out ) but sadly food was not very interesting or inspirational. £16.50 for a boring plate of king prawns and chips with garlic mayo! Calves liver tasted nice but only the same as any other restaurant I've had it in - not sure why they are serving it with colcannon mash - it being a french restaurant - and where was the cabbage in it? Baked Alaska was a nice feature of an otherwise boring menu. The meal had a bit of the "Emporor's new clothes" about it. Will not be returning as there are a lot of other more interesting restaurants in Leeds.

Very Poor Service. Myself and my partner went in on a quite sunday night. We were seated at around 630pm,ordered about 5 minutes later, and got out 2nd(and final) course at 750pm. At one point, after 40 mins of waiting for our first course a waiter told us the food was on its way! People around us got served with quickly enough. The menu was complex, and should only be tackled by those who know their Beijing and Sichuan cuisine from standard chinese. The food was OK, but not enough to make up for the service. I would not go here again, nor would i recommend it to anyone.

This was a first visit to Wasabi Teppanyaki. I was really impressed. The food was lovely, cooked in front of you by entertaining (if rather noisy) chefs. We chose the early bird menu (available 6-7.30pm) for £18. We thought you had to choose from the menu - but you got the whole menu (apart from sweets where you did choose). Total bill for 2 £70 including wine. Only gripe was that we felt a little rushed as the area was needed for the next guests, so we were moved to another table for the sweet. Other than that was great. I would recommend this place and eat there again myself.

Our party of 10 went to Kendells yesterday evening to celebrate a friends Birthday. The food was excellent but this was completely overshadowed by exceptionally poor service. If the front of house is improved, this could be a great place. If it isn't, this place will shut within 6 months.

Just come back from a city break in leeds. Pre Booked Red Chilli, what can i say everything was fantastic. The food the best chinese we have tasted. Had the Courtship menu which was plentiful and very delicious. Service swift only fault was we could have done with a little gap between courses .

I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. My party of six had a thoroughly enjoyable evening in a very relaxed atmosphere. The food, of which there was much variety, was excellent, well cooked and beautifully presented. The service from the point of booking the table to paying the bill was friendly and efficient. We were very fortunate to meet all of the staff and treated to some beautiful homemade chocolates. I will definitely be dining there again in the very near future. Three cheers to all the staff

The food here is fantastic. I had the best french onion soup I've ever tasted and would in fact consider killing for the recipe. Everywhere else its watery rubbish but Kendells version was thick, sweet, loads of onions, a rich dark brown. I could have eaten it again for main course. Instead, I had rabbit which was delicious. Between us, our table had moules marinieres, mushroom croustade, roast leg of lamb, venison medallions, goats cheese tart and duck confit. Everything was pronounced delicious and devoured in record time. The duck fat potatoes were fabulous, so too was my personal favourite, gratin dauphinoise. The creme brulee was seriously good. The pot au chocolat was seriously rich. The service was perfect - there when you wanted it - non-intrusive, and a really good welcome when we arrived. Can't wait to go back.

Very poor. Slow service (didn't manage to get food in time on my lunch hour), crappy attitude from staff when complaining about this, no discernable leadership/management and simply not good enough to charge what it does for food and drink. Saw kitchen staff smoking indoors downstairs and bar staff checking mobile phones when customers were waiting. I don't remember it being this bad when I was last there. What's happened?

We visited Kendells Bistro for the first time yesterday and were very pleasantly surprised. We didn't even know it existed and chose it for its convenient location near the Playhouse and what looked like a good value pre-theatre menu (£12.95 for 2 courses, £14.95 for 3). The restaurant was empty (a pity) but we found the decor quite warm and enjoyed the French music. Service was courteous and attentive and we munched on very fresh baguette with butter while waiting for the food. The roquefort salad starter was light and fresh (so often, blue cheese dishes are overwhelmingly heavy) with very crisp, mild chicory. Our main courses were belly pork, a gratin of potatoes with blue cheese, and salmon en croute. They were all tasty and nicely presented. The salmon was delicately cooked and subtly flavoured, and wrapped in thin homemade pastry. A small green salad and freshly cooked carrots and broccoli accompanied the dishes. We followed the main courses with a densely chocolatey 'pot au chocolat' and a comforting apple and almond tart ('tarte normande') with vanilla creme anglaise. Again, the pastry in the tart was crispy and delicious. Overall we thought the food was nicely presented, fresh, simple but very tasty. The portion sizes were just right and we thought the menu was good value for money. There were many other a la carte choices on a blackboard menu. We would definitely recommend the bistro and plan to visit again soon.

Fabulous food, great service and atmosphere. Aside from this, the highlight for me was getting a decent coffee that was hot and didn't just take like hot milk like so many other places! We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be going again!

I booked this restaurant for Valentines day due to all the wonderful reviews on this page. I don't whether it was because it was Valentines day, but the food was not very nice. My first impression was very good, the place looked nice and out table was ready straight away. However all the food was bland and pretty much all tasted the same. Everything tasted like soap. We thought we'd make the best of it and just enjoy out wine. However the waiters and waitresses seemed to like topping up my wine while I was not looking. I drink faster than my fiancee and so was not happy that they kept filling up my wine glass when she was still on her first. I did not tip in which the waitress acted confused for a while trying to get a tip out of me. Would never go again.

First visit recently to the Leeds branch of Brasserie Blanc. Staff were friendly and service was great. The location is cool and the internal decor and ambience welcoming. Food was excellent with good portion sizes (not too big and not too small)and well prepared. My husband doesn't drink wine, so I usually have to get wine by the glass and the list here was full of good quality wines. I had the white burgundy Meursault and the smell and the taste was divine! I recommend you try it!

I went to Red Chilli for Chinese New Year, but we had to wait for a table even though it didn't seem that busy. In the end we tried another Chinese restaurant, Mulan Restaurant. It had parking and a table available right away. I will try Red Chilli again, but not at Chinese New Year!

I'm not sure I went to the same restaurant as some of these other people! Disappointed is not the word, after reading such positive reviews. The worst Japanese meal I've ever eaten, by a mile. The tempura batter was soggy and heavy and tasted of nothing, the sushimi was awful. Only 2 or 3 different kinds of fish, really dull and very disappointing. And the pork bento box (we ordered fish balls, never mind) was just awful. Like cheap nasty takeaway Chinese. Japanese food is, when done right, makes you feel healthy and virtuous when you leave. This stodgy, greasy fare just make me feel sick. Certainly won't be going again.

I went to Bibi's in April 2007 for my mum's hen party, we was staying in The Golden Lion Hotel and someone else who was staying in the Hotel told us about Bibi's, Well they was wright the food was to die for and the service was out of this world. I have never had food like, it was that good i am coming back to Leeds in March with 7 friends and we are going to Bibi's and my mum and her husband are coming to Leeds in May. The only thing i would say is that you can't book and when you have a large group you can wait a while however it's worth the wait...

DO NOT EAT AT LITTLE TOKYO!!!! This used to be one of our favourite restaurants in Leeds, but I don't know if it's under new management or something?! The last time we visited and will ever visit again was on my birthday at the end of October. The so called "manager" gave us the worse service I have ever ever experienced. Having eaten here many times before, we mentioned to the waiter than the chicken teriyaki from a bento box meal tasted slightly different than usual (basically it tasted like it had been reheated and had gone hard). The manager disputed this and was incredibly rude. He refused to change the meals with the rock hard meat and then kept arguing with us (something to do with how life isn't fair....what??) and wouldn't leave the table. When I politely asked that he leave as he was ruining my birthday, he refused and told me that I was "ruining my own birthday" (somehow by choosing to come to what was once one of our favourite places to eat)?? He never did anything about our inedible meals so we refused to pay for them as we hadn't eaten the rest of the box as it had gone cold by this point. There was a group of about 8 of us and we paid fully for everything else (starters, all the other meals and the wine etc) but there was no reasoning with this clearly inexperienced manager who then threatened and actually ended up calling the police as we knew we were in the right!!! He barricaded us into the restaurant and refused to open the door until the police came. When the police showed up they basically sided with us as they could clearly see no-one was even drunk or rowdy and it was obvious that the manager was just being unreasonable. The police explained to the manager that he should respect that other customers might have different tastes than himself. Unwilling to understand this concept he reluctantly backed down and let us leave, having paid for 80% of our bill anyway. This obviously completely ruined my birthday and Little Tokyo has now lost out on 8 regular customers. If you're thinking of going to a restaurant where you are entitled to say if something is not right then this is DEFINITELY not the place for you!!!!! THIS IS A TRUE STORY, DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
