One of our favourite places to eat in North Leeds. Fantastic, authentic Spanish cuisine with a great range of Spanish beers and wines. Always brilliant service and a cosy and intimate atmosphere. Can't recommend El Bareto highly enough, a must try for anyone who enjoys Spanish food/tapas.

Terrible service, very expensive, when I got my flan it came with chocolate on it. I don't like chocolate, when I asked them to send me a new one without the chocolate (the menu never specified chocolate and it wasn't just on the plate it was also on the flan and the fruit) they told me it was the last one. They didn't offer it to be on the house (it's not like they could resell it) and they took it away. It didn't seem like it was the last one as they were just in a hurry to get rid of us. The waiters were not very friendly and one of them hardly acknowledged us. Our food arrived in several bits rather than all at once. We made a reservation for 8pm, it was 8:51 when we were seated downstairs, however there were at least 4 empty tables downstairs next to where we we're sat. While we were waiting a group of 4 people left, so these tables must have been empty the entire time we were waiting. We ordered drink and they were placed on a banister, who's is what we were given to balance our jug of sangria on. We were only given 2 chairs when there were 3 of us waiting. The price was very high, and the fish of the day was really bland but cost £13. Overall the service was terrible, 3/10 would not recommend. However the rest of the food and the sangria was very nice, but the wait and poor service did not counteract this

I am Spanish living in England for over 8 years and this is the best Spanish Restaurant I have tried in a long long time. Amazing tapas at a really good prices. Staff really professional and quick serving. Special thanks to Marta and Maria for being so nice and their food suggestions. Definitely we will go back next time we are up in Leeds!

When I first went into "Suburban Bar" in Chapel Allerton, I realised it was exactly the same as all the other bars in Chapel Allerton. Loud music and big ego's. To add to my major disappointment, it turns out the management staff are aggressive, and if the door staff dont like the look of you they will snap your glasses (thats through experience). The best thing to do if you cant avoid Chapel Allerton, is go to the Mustard pot!!

I really enjoyed the food at Samis when we went for my friends 30th birthday last week, the portion sizes were good and the menu was small enough so you were not bombarded with choices but large enough to offer good variety. However I thought the service could have been alot better. We had pre booked in advanced a table for 18 which they accommodated for us by putting us upstairs. The room was nice and we were the only people up there (probably for the best as we were making quite a lot of noise) but it took about 25 minuets for someone to come and take our order. When a waitress did arrive the menu is numbered so it was just a matter of telling her the number of your dish, we all went for a starter and a main but the waitress missed of 4 starters form the order which had to then be cooked and brought up after the rest of us had finished and then a different 4 mains were forgotten and a waitress had to come up again to re take the order as the rest of us were eating. When the food did arrive everyone seemed to finish there meal and enjoy them as well. They also didn't mind that we had brought our own birthday cake which they lit the candles and brought to the table. My recommendation is thumbs up for small groups but thumbs down for large ones.

A wonderful evening! A warm welcome and great food! El Bareto has quickly become my favourite place to go for a night out. Always a warm welcome as you enter the cosy bar upstairs which is ideal to sit and chat whilst enjoying a beer or glass of wine. Downstairs there is another bar leading to the dining area which has a great authentic atmosphere. The food is simply wonderful and excellent value and I can personally recommend the Pollo A La Pimienta and the Tortilla De Patatas Riojana. Oh, and the Cheesecake is heavenly! They have plenty of vegetarian options available and much of their great food is gluten free Basically its superb authentic tapas served by friendly helpful staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. And if you add in the amazing live music on Friday nights why would you want to be any where else?!

Great place for tapas, food and wine have a lot of love put into them and it shows. Azucar has won best newcomer for 2010 but El Bareto makes that place look like tapas by Pizza Hut. Highly recommended

We went to Samis for a friend birthday meal and i have to say I was not at all impressed. The starter was OK - goats cheese in filo pastry, however the main course (lamb couscous) was a dry, overcooked lamb chop on a bed of very bland couscous, no sauce and a few mushy carrots on the side. Desert was a dry chocolate cake which was clearly fresh out of the cash and carry freezer. When we went to tip the waitresses said that all the tips go straight to Sami the owner, and when we said we wanted the tip to go to them, they said they weren't allowed to accept it. I will not be returning here again.

Very nice staff (attentive but not overbearing), a lovely family friendly atmosphere, fantastic food, excellent wines, sensible prices...what more could you want ?!?! We've been a few times now and the quality is consistently very high. Highly recommended.

Excellent, excellent, excellent. Everything is fab. The only problem is it's often very busy so book ahead. Oh and more choice of beers would be nice but that is just nit-picking.

Samis is fantastic value for money and delicious food. I've read old reviews which say portion sizes are small but this is certainly no longer true - especially with the meat dishes. Try and eat upstairs as the decor and atmosphere is a lot better. Its a great place to meet with friends and have a relaxing meal - a lovely 3 course meal for £15 -£20 a head due to providing your own alcohol. We go back again and again.

El bareto is simply a lovely little Spanish restaurant which remains unspoilt and traditional. The food and service is just what you would expect from a family run restaurant - welcoming and delicious!! The entertainment was very atmospheric and i would definitely recommend anyone who likes Spanish food to pay this little gem a visit - you will not be disappointed!!

Exceedingly poor service, this was to be a special occasion for my birthday. The food was cold on arriving at the table, this they then took back, the meal was then eaten in stages, by myself and my partner, no new vegetables arrived with the meal. We then did not have offered any deserts or coffee to follow the meal. We only got offered an apology. In a word very disappointing....

El Bareto feels like you're in Spain. The food and wines are excellent with great live music nights and you always receive a warm welcome. By the way it's just off the Harrogate Road near Chapel Allerton (not Harewood). Chris & Art
