Woodlands Hotel – MorleyJust had my first experience at Bibis Leeds and I was very disappointed. The food was ridiculously overpriced for what I would say was a very average meal. For instance, the "roasted garlic and minted olive oil" lamb chops which I could have easily cooked at home (if I couldn’t be bothered to cook that night) tasted of nothing more than grilled lamb chops. I’m amazed that some reviews are actually positive. From reading a handful of reviews it seems that this restaurant relies heavily on its past reputation. The service was poor, no one bothered to check if we enjoyed our meal at any point of the evening (we didn’t!). As a result we felt obliged to remove the included optional service charge. The one positive which we took from the evening was that we enjoyed the starter and deserts however this does not mean we will ever consider returning.
Bibis Italianissimo – Leeds City CentreI would like to thank the Punch Bowl Inn for a very pleasant overnight stay. All the staff were very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was first class . The rooms were clean and well furnished, all with en suite facilities and overall an excellent choice of venue.
Punch Bowl, The – ThorneWe came here with my parents. On the evening when we visited, we had a veritable feast. We shared sweet potato and ginger cakes with lime cilantro and vegan sour cream; beetroot and cream cheese; hummus and bread; Thai tofu curry with rice noodles; Asian smoked tofu salad; and blueberry cheese cake. It was heavenly! We shall certainly come here again. I can heartily recommend this great restaurant..
Dandelion and Burdock – Sowerby BridgeWent there twice within 2 days it was so good. Lovely olde worlde pub, food excellent as was the service. friendly but professional. Great atmosphere and 2 courses £11.95 Mon-Thursday. Could not fault it, presentation, taste and value what a gem to find. That was the verdict of all of us. Just wish we lived nearer to go more often.
Fox And Hounds – WetherbyBrilliant food for veggies and non- veggies alike as it is so different from all other curry restaurants in Bradford. Really fresh and tasty food with great friendly service.
Prashad – BradfordA COMPLETE WASTE OF MY HARD EARNED MONEY , HAD A TAKE OUT LAST NIGHT , TOTAL CRAP !! NOT EVEN IN THE SAME LEAGUE AS DIL RAJ IN DODWORTH OR CURRY MAHAL , DIL RAJ IS THE BEST INDIAN IN THE NORTH OF ENGLAND, FACT !! rOYAL SPICE MY ARSE .....
Royal Spice, The – Barnsleymyself and my wife paid a visit last night (20-9-2008) to celebrate her birthday. the staff and the place are well worth a visit if you like good proper British food because that is what you get and my god it is well worth the wait. we started with a starter mine was chicken curry and the wife had Atlantic prawn cocktail. then we had soup mine was farmhouse vegetable the wifes was chicken and leek. main course. mine was 10oz rib eye steak with all the trimmings my wifes was a double barnsley chop with all the trimmings. sweet course. i had chocolate and orange cheesecake the wifes was sherry trifle .
Sandal Farm Restaurant – BradfordThe atmosphere and food here are excellent - Just pop in for a drink - nice friendly bars. The staff are second to none and are willing to recommend food and adapt to your taste. The daytime food is also very good - I wish they would extend it into the evening so that I could go more often - couldn't eat curry every day!
East – PudseyWith the term 'gastropub' I feel the Mustard Pot over-rates itself. For one thing, there are only about 4 things on the menu; the specials board repeats dishes that are already listed. The dinner menu repeats the lunch menu, swapping sandwiches for starters. The food is overpriced and lacking substance. I had an £8 chicken and ham pie, served in a bowl with no accompaniments - they were extra. Well, ok, that would be fine if the pie was exceptional. While I might have anticipated a billowing cape of freshly-rolled puff pastry enveloping an unctuous helping of creamy chicken and ham, what I got instead was a feeble, gossamer-thin biscuit of pastry floating in a millpond of leek-flavoured milk. It wasn't worth the money, and I'd have got better pie at one of the chain pubs like the Bracken Fox. My fellow diner's burger was made with too much onion and then served with onion relish. It was somehow not quite right: perhaps it was the onion. It was again very expensive at £7.50 (without chips) and served in an unremarkable, supermarket-style doughy bun - not gastropub standard by any means. The chips were good, and were at least freshly made. A glass of Malbec and a pint of lager came to £7.40 The Mustard Pot could end up being what Chapel Allerton needs if they put some effort in, but at this stage it's not serving gastropub quality food, there's not enough choice and it feels like they've spent more time dreaming up lavish pricing for their offering than they have thinking about how to deliver a really decent pub meal.
Mustard Pot – Chapel AllertonAte last night at Voda Bar and kitchen and really enjoyed it. Its a fairly new place with new owners. The atmosphere is awesome and must have cost them a small fortune to fit out! Food was English bistro style with a wide choice of snacks and meals, its good to know i could just pop in there after work for a quick drink and a snack. Well worth a visit.
Voda Lounge – HuddersfieldWe’ve dined here on several occasions and have been delighted with the meals and friendly service every time. What an imaginative chef to think up dishes such as sweet potato and ginger cakes with lime cilantro and vegan sour cream; Beetroot and vegan cream cheese; Thai tofu curry with rice noodles; etc. And as for the smoothies, the pomegranate smoothie was to die for, as was the mango cheesecake. Definitely a must place to dine in the region. Very highly recommended.
Dandelion and Burdock – Sowerby BridgeI drive half an hour to travel to the restaurant every Saturday, either to sit in and have a meal or a take away. Food is excellent the best there is in Leeds, its real authentic Indian food. Excellent service, very welcoming and professional staff. I will not visit any other Indian restaurant Nawaab khan is the one for me. If you have not been then you should, you must if you want the best food in Leeds.
Nawaab Khan – RoundhayFabulous food in eclectic surroundings. If you love good pub food with restaurant finesse and a friendly atmosphere this place is a must. The lobster thermidor is fantastic ! A lovely selection of complementary breads starts off the meal and the puds..... well what can i say ! to die for.Banjo playing in the bar just to top it off.
Crab And Lobster Restaurant – YorkExcellent vegetarian food. We found this lovely place in our last week of living in Yorkshire and are so disappointed we didn't find it 3-years earlier! Over the course of moving house we re-visited for a take-away 3 times in one week - and we don't usually buy take aways at all, but the food here was so good it was like eating a great curry we had cooked at home. We don't eat meat but it wouldn't matter if we did as the food here is so tasty you really wouldn't miss the flesh not being there. A selection of the best of what we had included the Zucchini curry which was so fresh and tasty, and you could really taste the Zucchini. The Masala Dosa was one of the best I've ever had from many great restaurants, the Chole was delicious and the Taka Dhal was surprisingly a really flavoursome little dish in itself rather than a side dish as dhal usually is. The homemade pickle tray and unusual flavoured popadoms were remarkable and the rice was above and beyond any standards you'd expect from rice in a good restaurant. The mixed started tray was really different and we enjoyed it very much, but on that particular night we had ordered too much so didn''t finish it all. However, we gave it to my dad, who came over the next day to help us pack, for his lunch and he was more than impressed. He ate the remainder of the cake cooked with mustard seeds and the deep fried lentils with coconut and was very impressed. I can't recommend this place enough and am so impressed something this good exists in somewhere outside of London. I only wish we had heard about it sooner. I hope Bobby Patel and his family keep up the good work as there aren't many take-aways like this around Yorkshire.
Prashad – BradfordBeen to Spice Hut several times since moving to Thorne in 2005, we always make sure we have a good time there with our friends and it being a BYO restaurant is a bonus, Going back Saturday 27th Sept
Spice Hut – ThorneThis has got to be the vegan paradise! We’ve already dined here on four occasions, lunch times and evenings, and we’ve never been disappointed. With the menu changing every month, it is a delight to discover unusual dishes such as Tuscan Pasty with Onion Mashed Potato; Angel-hair Pasta with Bolognese Sauce, etc. The setting next to the river is a picturesque addition, especially when you can get a table near the window. Very highly recommended.
Dandelion and Burdock – Sowerby Bridgegood food but rude staff and each time we have been they have tried to charge us extra on the bill, ranging from drinks we have never had to additional rice as did not give enough to start with. have a Karoki on a night but again unfair as has favorites and does not allow others turns. a real shame really has a good night out but not worth the hassle with the staff, lack of trust re the bill and having to watch and check all the time.
