Cock O’Barton – MalpasThe Old Fire Station is a small bistro seating about 30 people.Situated on the High Street just across from a free public car park.Very efficient and friendly staff.Food is excellent with a wide choice including veggie dishes. Prices are reasonable, about £6-£7 for a main at lunch time and less than £10 in the evenings. Ideal for those days when you just don't want to cook and don't want to spend a fortune. Good honest food.
The Old Fire Station Bistro – MalpasWe fancied this place after reading the last review. Indeed it does have oodles of character and it is easy to imagine the children in the old victorian school. Its more of a restaurant than a pub, however the cask ale is very good. We thought our starters absolutely first class! Confit of duck with lentils and real fresh crab hot pate. The mains were as good, rustic hearty and filling. A chunky venison cottage pie and hot roast partridge. Quality cheeseboard with port to follow. The service was pretty good with the exception of the waitress in the red shoes. The rudest attitude i have ever experienced in a restaurant/pub. We were both stunned. A real shame as it spoiled the whole night for us. The other staff were nice and friendly but not her. I would highly recommend this place, when she is off work obviously!
The food was awful and made us feel sick. My husband has spotted a dead fly in his dish....I wouldn't go back to this place again. Do not recommend!!
Cock O’Barton – MalpasWe had a beautiful lunch here recently, the food was outstanding and the staff we most welcoming to us and our young baby. It is quite unusual to find such a high quality restaurant that is also family friendly. Excellent value for money too.
Cock O’Barton – Malpasgreat place to eat, drink and have an affair, i love this country pub, and its so out of the way and private.Great local trade - good company and great tasting real ales - tractor lads a great laugh and they are perfect gentlemen.
Carden Arms – MalpasAlways had a warm welcome at The Carden Arms, the food is fantastic, the staff are really friendly and the locals make you feel welcome. Last time i was there i met Prince Charles who was participating in the local hunt, how cool is that??
Carden Arms – MalpasSo you're driving through the real ale wilderness in South Cheshire. Past plastic themed eateries with the same menus anywhere in the country. Worse still you drive past abandoned boarded up country pubs ripe for redevelopment,it says on the for sale board, demolition, new homes, anything but a pub. You drive into a little village just off the A41, what do you see, yep another boarded up pub, but wait look to your right, no it's not a mirage, it's The Carden Arms in Tilston, sitting there defiant, real ales, good food, friendly service, decent beer, that's right everything we hold dear to. No ostentatious fancy new bar stools or overpriced fare, just a good old fashioned warm welcome, varied menus, great value mid-week specials, fishy Fridays, steak Sunday evenings, you name it, all great value for money and good to eat, I know sampled more than a few. Get yourself along there and enjoy a "proper" country pub with something for everyone. The Carden Arms, a beacon of light shining through the corporate dross. Don't miss it.
Carden Arms – Malpasnice pub in a lovely little village highly recommended.
Carden Arms – MalpasDecent pub this, one side is for the tractor boys drinking, but the other is a cosy dining area with a good mix of traditional and inventive cuisine. Proper portly landlord serves good ales and the food we ate was excellent.
Carden Arms – MalpasThis is everything that a Country Pub should be with a really warm welcome, excellent food without the presumptiousness of other restaurants in the local area ( or the price tags ) They also always have a good selection of beers with Guest Beers always being well conditioned. Well worth a visit, but remember to book to guarantee your seat !
Carden Arms – MalpasThis pub has a new chef, and it shows, excellent dinner last Friday, they do a blackboard full of fish dishes, we had hake, seafood Tagliatelle and calamari, really good and about half the price of the awful Cock of Barton.
Carden Arms – MalpasThe new owners of the Cock O' Barton have transformed what was a character public house that served food into a truly delightful restaurant whilst actually enhancing the character and ambiance. The efficient and friendly service is refreshing and the imaginative menu and quality fayre even if some dishes are a little pricey ( fish and chips £16) means it is always wise to make a reservation.
Cock O’Barton – Malpasjust been done up, is very very nice!

Wheatsheaf Inn The – MalpasHad a delightful meal, very friendly host. The beetroot risotto was superb. Will definitely go again. We have found a little gem of a restaurant.
A Table At Eatons – MalpasJust what it should be, a country pub with home cooked value for money food in a quiet setting. Good wine list at the right prices and personal service from landlord and landlady who make you feel at home.
