I've been in this restaurant a few times now even when it used to be called Il Toro The male staff member with the short hair that works behind the bar and services customers orders has really bad customer service skills. Very bad attitude and not polite. He always seems to be in a mood. People pay good money to go and spend there hard worked money to relax and enjoy a nice meal. I won't be going again with my family It's ashame as we live local. Maybe any tips given could go towards a customer service course for himself in the future.

A truly amazing selection of top end wines. Don't be fooled by the upstairs off licence feel. Downstairs is a treasure trove of dusty wines housed by experts!

Our favourite restaurant EVER. We've been dining at Spice Valley for 15 yr and we've never had a bad meal. It's always fresh hit and very tasty. We love um all. Xx

Amazing food, lovely restaurant and attentive staff! Great for lunch, evening meal & group bookings. Had a fabulous private charity event here too! A must to visit!

I visited Spice Valley on a ladies lunchtime charity event, they went out of their way to provide exciting alcohol and non alcoholic cocktails as welcome drinks. The usual loud chatter of our gang was silenced as we were served a selection on each table of various dishes. I confess I do not know what they all were but they were all delicious. I have an Indian friend and have experience true Indian food and Spice Valley is keeping an authentic approach. Would certainly go again.

No facilities for disabled customers. At least 12 very steep stairs to only toilet. Told staff too difficult for me to use stairs and they suggested I go to the hotel next door and use their facilities. I thought it was against the law not to have facilities for disabled customers

Empire is by far Bolton's best!! The cocktails are exceptional, never seen anything this high quality outside of Manchester. not to mention the fine dining restaurant underneath - super relaxed, cosy and intimate!! Perfect for celebrations or just a general treat!! I cant wait to return!

This is my local pub, I accept it's cheap and cheerful, but how hard can it be to get warm food, complained and my food was taken away, my partner then had to eat his food whilst I waited for mine to arrive.When it did it was nuclear hot and burnt the roof of my mouth, needless to say I didn't pay, the manager seemed distracted and uninterested. Quite frankly this was the worst dining experience of my life and I am 51.

Visited tonight after having a great meal on Saturday with family. I had the Ploughmans, which was not my idea of a Ploughmans. It consisted of 4 rounds of sliced bread, a little sliced cheddar cheese, a slice of corned beef, ham and italian ham, piccalli and a little lettuce, cucumber and pepper. When I asked for tomato the waitress said it didnt come with tomato WHAT !! Sorry I forgot to mention the slices of appple. What happened to crusty bread, pickled onions, ploughmans pickle and another different cheese. The waitress didnt take too kindly to critism although I told her the meal we had on the previous Saturday was delicious. She went away and sulked and none of the other staff took our sweet order so we paid and left with no thank you. Don't think we will be returning. Incindentally my husband had the duck which be enjoyed.

What a Gem , the food was fantastic.

This restaurant was recommended to my wife so we thought we would give it a try and we were not disappointed. As we are quite partial to Indian food and like to try different restaurants so as to compare what they have to offer. This restaurant is not particularly well advertised, in fact seems to come up as a Take Away. It is situated on the main road and a bit on the small side, I only noticed one waiter, but he seemed to be in control of things and we were well looked after. As regards the food, compared to other restaurants the food in this place takes some beating so well recommended in our opinion. According to the owner it has only been open about 5 months and better advertising is in progress. They do have other restaurants in other towns in Lancashire. I would recommend booking a table due to the limited seating area.

We rarely write reviews, but couldn't help it in this case. We have been to this restaurant twice now for takeway and the cuisine is just untouchable. The staff are also very friendly and courteous. We will be definitely be dinning in the restaurant next time. Well done Spice Bar!!!

Absolutely terrible. DO NOT TAKE A CAKE FOR A SPECIAL OCCASSION, they will give away to the wrong party and not expect to compensate for their incompetence, they will accuse you of trying to take advantage, completely unprofessional and incompetent establishment, would not recommend

We hadn't visited this long established restaurant in a while but it's still a great place. Excellent food, great service even on a busy Saturday evening. Price isn't bad either. There was also a decent looking special menu at a tenner a head for three courses, available any time(when we visited). Takeaway service too. Street parking nearby.

Been here a few times now and the food does not disappoint. Fillet steak is superb also the sea bass a varied menu caters for all tastes well worth a visit although it's not cheap you get what you pay for. My only criticism and it really niggles me but this restaurant is not alone in doing so it's the price of a small glass of wine for example a melot willll set you back £3.75 ridiculous ice water for me I'm afraid!!!!!

My wife and I have visited this establishment several times over the past 15 years,as "The Ridgeway" we always ate well and often took my elderly mother who also enjoyed both the food and the ambience. Under the new name and management,she would have wanted to live there. The whole hotel is clean and comfortable,the bowling green is well maintained and the service is EXCELLENT,(please ignore the spoilers elsewhere on these pages, the food is perfectly cooked,beautifully presented truly value for money. No we did not go for the cheapest nor the most expensive,just mid range,I can assure you that this place is not only worth a visit, but a return visit and further visits to follow.. We have no vested interests in this establishment,but I just felt that the negative comments should be repudiated. Incidentally,the person who was "refused"forgot to say that the man who did so was "foreign" and to him and all the staff I can only say mille grazzi.

I called in this afternoon,22/5/13, for some information and menus as I am organising a retirement 'do'. Your employers completely ignored me and walked away in case they had to do any work. Needless to say I will not be going back again. Very disappointed.
