This place was recommended to us and it didn’t disappoint. The staff and service was brilliant and the food absolutely delicious - even our youngest, who is an exceptionally picky eater, cleared the plate. Well worth a visit, you wont be disappointed!

Brilliant! We went for breakfast with Santa and it was just wonderful. My daughter is a menace for seeing through people dressed up. She’s called several out over her time yet she had no doubts that this was the real man himself. The book has had to be read every night since as it’s her ‘special book from the real Santa.’ Also the lady who served us was lovely and couldn’t do enough for us even though it was so busy and put up with my daughter’s 1million questions (so sorry) Thank you. It’s made her Christmas.

Beautiful home cooked food. Served lovely and warm. I had roast beef and it was beautiful with a good selection of veggies and extra gravy . Great service. Will definitely return

Had an evening meal for 4 people. Food was excellent. Staff polite. Only down side is the restaurant was quiet but it seemed busier in the bar downstairs which we will try next time we go. Just needs word to get out how good the food is and Im sure it will be busier.

Wonderful food !! Wonderful room and environment.. fast service. Really enjoyed it. (The music went off before we finished so it went quiet and we felt a pressure to hurry up.) The food was unexpectedly good. We cook well so we are often disappointed when we eat out. But this was tasty and meaty and well made. It didn't taste or look warmed up. The staff were really lovely. We will definitely go back.

Had booked on line stating I was bringing a small dog. Arrived after parking in disability bays at rear to be greeted by a pleasant young lady but older lady was not welcoming at all, heard her comment, ‘I’ve only got one pair of hands!’ Then to be told I couldn’t take the dog to the dining room where a table had been reserved (I’d stated about my dog in the online booking!) After a discussion with colleague downstairs in the bar I could be seated down there. However, I and my guests are disabled and could not access via the stairs, was told ‘ go back outside, walk around the back, down the steep ramp and enter at the ground floor door at the front’. I had a walking stick, two of my guests (one elderly) very limited mobility had brought rollators! As a result of all this commotion and lack of accessibility , we left!! Not impressed at all and will not be visiting again. I had thought I might book for accommodation as Unit 1 is accessible and ‘Pods’ are available but there is no chance next time I’m up to holiday in Lancaster that I will be going back to The Golden Ball Hotel.

Food and staff 10 out of 10 will definitely dine and drink here again

We live just a walk away from The Golden Ball and previously have avoided due to the food being 'ping cuisine'. It's a shame as the venue is full of charm and has great views across the river to Lancaster. The new owners have freshened the place up and the new menu looks fabulous. I have only had sandwiches recently (which were very good) but last Thursday went for a 'proper' meal and was very impressed. I had the fish pie and it was epic. It was packed full of chunky fish and prawns, topped with a cheesy, creamy mash and accompanied by well-cooked seasonal vegetables. My children have rated the kids spaghetti bolognaise 'better than mum's'! We are so pleased to have great pub food back and will definitely be visiting more often

We had a meal for my birthday with my brother and his wife and it was excellent well served nice and hot and really well presented. I would rate it extremely highly.

There were 6 in our party and we all had a wonderful tasty meal. There was a small incident with a spilt drink which was dealt with immediately and professionally. We couldn’t have asked more from the staff they were caring and met all our requirements. Will definitely be going back and kind highly recommend the menu.

The food was absolutely spot on. Garlic bread to share for starter. Hubby had gammon which was a lovely thick piece, not the usual thin, dry, salty mass produced rubbish. I had hell’s chicken which was a massive chicken breast stuffed with Brie, wrapped in thick bacon and with a creamy sauce with a kick. I asked to swap the potatoes for chips which was no problem whatsoever. Then salted caramel profiteroles and ice cream for dessert. We were stuffed. Staff very attentive. Forgot to suggest a little sign as you walk in saying “please wait here to be seated” with a bell or something like that would be a nice touch. (We know you have a lot of jobs to do so sure this is one of them!). Thanks for a lovely evening.
