Great food...well prepared, and friendly attentive service from the staff...a great evening, as usual.... Even if on this visit I had to empty my pre dinner operative over some ones table decoration that had caught fire !!!.... you'd have thought the people at the table would have noticed..!!!

First class Mothers day Sunday lunch, absolutely lovely, and a pretty table decoration of tulips made it a very enjoyable lunch. Will definitely be back.

We had passed it many times on our way to the A19, but never ate or drank in the establishment. We went there on my wife's birthday 15.1.09 with our sons and their respective partners and the food, prices, service and friendliness of the hosts was excellent. It is well worth the drive on twisty country roads at night to experience the Haynes Arms we will return.

We haven't visited the Aroma since it has been refurbished but planning to experience this on Saturday 14.2.09. My wife isn't keen on spicy or hot dishes, but really enjoys the food at the Aroma, along with the excellent service and competitive price. I have been informed the refurbishment is the only change, everything else is as before.

I went out with a few friends to this place and was appalled by how cold the food was and when told about it they simply said they would heat it back up which probably meant the microwave. Also waiters more bothered about tips than customer service.

Absolutely rubbish - and after the cold food the waiters had the gall to ask for a tip!!! Definitely wouldn't recommend it.

We tried the Fox & Hounds on a Saturday night about 5pm, to which when we walked in there were only a few persons in the bar area but plenty of tables, all of which had reserved sighs on. I then approached a young waitress to be greeted with "what" so asked her where we could sit with my wife and three children. I was then told in a very abrupt manner that all the tables were booked for 7pm, but I could have a table if I hurried with my meal. Quite taken back by this, I was then pointed to a table and told to "sit there". It was then I went to the bar where I ordered five drinks, to which I was told "these will be placed on your bill boss". On returning to my table I then had 2 menus thrown at me and told "id hurry up if I were you". Both my wife and I then looked at each other to which my 8 year old daughter commented “if we talked to you like that dad we would be in trouble". After reading the menu through I noticed there were no child meals, so asked the waitress if smaller portions were available to which I was told "no it would say if there were" to which the waitress then went to her college and began to loudly comment on the fact some customers got on her ....... Deciding that enough was enough and fearing my wife may harm the waitress if she continued with her attitude, I then went to the bar with the menus and explained we would no longer be eating, only to have my drinks bill thrust in my face and told to "leave my table and go into the outside area" where incidentally it was raining. Never again shall I visit this public house as it is the rudest service to date I have received in the Northallerton area, and can only assume the waitresses were trained by Vicky pollard.

The Shorthorn Inn is definitely one of the friendliest and most satisfying restaurants I have been to and I will continue to dine there at least 2 or 3 times a month. The food quality is excellent and is very good value for money but the best thing of all is the service and the friendliness of the staff. If you have not visited the Shorthorn before I highly recommend you do.

I last went to McCoys at the Cleveland Tontine 15 years or so ago ..... and went again recently with my wife, sister and brother-in-law. I love my food, my wife appreciates food and service, while my sister likes ambiance and the food and service, while my brother in law APPRECIATES everything and is from LA where he has been Maître de at many very good restaurants... We were all BLOWN AWAY by the quality of the food, the service and the whole experience. Champagne to start .. fresh Irish oysters all round..... Hot foie Gras with Madeira, French Black Pudding with pickled pear, remoulade beetroot and horseradish sauce, Seafood pancake with Thermidor sauce and Herb rolled Tuna with smoked salmon and crab roll for starters - we all tasted each other's of course! Mains included Wild Mishroom Risotto .. Scallops with rocket and parsley puree with chilli, lemon and coriander butter .... Pan fried halibut with tomato and clam broth and Venison with rolled venison shank, savoy cabbage and spiced redcurrant sauce..... puddings (2) were shared again ... warm plum sponge and custard .. and warm chocolate tart with coffee anglais and coffee and walnut ice cream .. coffee and biscotti's upstairs in the lounge afterwards with our drinks. £170.00 without tip or service ... FIVE STARS .. and for special occasions

21/08/2007 The Aroma Restaurant in Northallerton is outstanding, really good decor, very comfortable, great atmosphere, the customer service is excellent, very helpful even on a Tuesday, the restaurant was packed, every table was taken it was a good thing that we booked. The food is really tasty and very well presented, all this and a new menu, with the like of lobster, mussels and duck. The price is very fair, me and my wife had starters, mains, vegs, coffees, on top of all this 2 rounds of drinks and a bottle of red wine. all for only £40 and as i was on my way to the toilet i couldn’t help but notice all the awards they have won in less then 3 years. I will definitely be going back and would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone. Best Indian restaurant in Northallerton and surrounding area by far.

The greeting was vary warm and welcoming, the staff were very friendly and the service was very good. The ambience of the restaurant was good and was very clean which made for a good relaxing meal. NOW the food...As said it was outstanding the portions were just right even for the larger pallet and the mix of spices were in proportion to the food not over powering. A real pleasure, my compliment's to the chef.
