We had Sunday lunch and the food was delicious. Excellent quality beef, vegetables tasty and not over cooked, served with a flavoursome gravy. Puffing was an apple and cinnamon tart which was light and beautifully cooked. Staff friendly and obliging. Nice comfortable atmosphere.

Our friend booked a table for 6 at 2.30 pm on Remembrance Sunday, as she had eaten there before and had enjoyed the quality and service. Unfortunately our experience was somewhat different. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table which was away from the main restaurant area. A very pleasant young man took our drinks order, which were delivered quickly. Our meal order was then taken. We had to wait some time before three roast beef dinners arrived and a further five minutes before a pork and lamb shank dinner was served. The roast dinner meals were barely warm and served on cold plates and one had one slice of beef, one two slices and the third three slices!! The pork and lamb were also barely warm. We were not asked if we wanted any horseradish, mint or indeed apple sauce and there was no stuffing with the pork. The three beef eaters had to start eating before the other two. When our friend asked for mint sauce that came immediately as it was obviously ready in the kitchen. Very disappointing to say the least. On a positive note the food was excellent and beautifully cooked. We also asked for a further round of drinks when the pork and lamb meals were served, unfortunately we never got those! The woman came to the table when we had all finished our meals to see if we had received the drinks. It was too late then. When we were asked if everything was satisfactory we told the young woman about our problems above. She apologised but told us the manager had left three weeks previously and had booked a party of over 20 people as if in spite and no telephone contact numbers! She had Melissa's email and could have contacted her to explain the situation and we could have moved the time of our meal. We weren't asked if we wanted desserts and the woman said when we were ready to pay we would receive a 10% discount. We felt as though she wanted to see the back of us! It was obvious the large party took preference over our booking. Very disappointing. Maria Murphy smurf1953.mem@gmail.com

Unfortunately we will not be returning We booked a table for Sunday 12 November at 4.30 pm on October 16 as we were going to be on holiday -we were really looking forward to eating at the Apple Inn Despite booking early the table reserved for our booking was pushed away in one of the smaller rooms - we were given another table when we asked to be moved We ordered a trio of meats -we were told that there was no beef left but would be given extra piece of pork belly we also ordered extra side of cauliflower cheese and told this was not available as was the apricot stuffing not available -we were given an extra portion of pigs in blankets I had asked asked for gravy on the side when the meal arrived it was covered in gravy ! The meal was taken away and was returned without gravy as requested my husband did start his meal minus the buttered greens which only arrived when reminded we hadn’t received them halfway through his meal. We did speak to the manageress who only reiterated that food was only subject to availability and wasn’t concerned about the poor experience we had received We holiday frequently here in Northumberland and The Apple Inn is now off our list of restaurants to visit Very poor show

This was our first visit to The Queens Head and we were not disappointed. Set in a lovely, picturesque Northumberland village we were welcomed on our arrival by Isaac in a warm and friendly manner. The atmosphere was cosy and the open fires were welcoming on such a cold day. The Sunday lunch was delicious. Both the roast beef and lamb were very good. There was plenty of food which was tasty and well prepared and it all came with plenty of gravy. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious and highly recommended! The service was attentive and prompt. Overall a lovely dining experience. Thank you. We will definitely visit again as it’s well worth the drive out!

Lovely Sunday lunch, great atmosphere and fantastic service especially considering the large party that was in mid afternoon. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

Excellent meal, good choice of dishes, although being vegetarian it would be nice to have a few more options. However, the restaurant is lovely, laid back atmosphere, staff really friendly and helpful. Super dog friendly.

We had our evening meal at The Apple Inn whilst visiting Bamburgh after we passed the signs for the pub whilst out and about. The pub is lovely and the staff very friendly and welcoming. We both had the chilli potato skins for starter and they were gorgeous! I had the fish pie and hubby had the burger and both meals were lovely. The only negative was that there were no specials available on the evening we were there but the menu itself has enough choice especially if you like fish and seafood! We wouldn’t hesitate to eat here again when we return to the area.

An excellent evening meal, fantastic haggis scotch egg and a huge portion of loaded potato skins to start, then we shared the seafood sharing plate. All great and really good value for money.

We visited for Sunday lunch and the food was absolutely delicious. We had the trio of meats as we couldn’t decide which to choose. All the meat was cooked beautifully, and the sage with apricot stuffing was super tasty! Whilst the food was delicious, it was a premium price, so do expect to pay a little more. In my opinion, the meal was well worth the cost. We shared the apple and cinnamon pie for dessert which was absolutely delicious too! We were lucky to sit by the toasty log burner which made the atmosphere really cosy, and it was lovely watching the leaves falling outside on a chilly day. The staff were all very friendly and checked if we needed anything and if the food was all okay. We would definitely recommend eating here and will certainly return in future!

Fabulous food - really enjoyed it! Lovely service from a friendly young man who went to check little things for us. Meal was great - steak and ale pie, home -made and delicious would recommend! One minor point was the seating, we were sat in a corner behind a screen so no atmosphere at all. Would go again but might ask for a different table.
