The Apple Inn – BamburghWe had a lovely meal here. We all had the pie of the day - very tasty. My 2 year old even polished off his whole fish and chips meal - almost unheard of!!! The setting is lovely and all social distancing measures look to be in hand. The staff were attentive and friendly. Brilliant food and reasonably priced too. Couldn’t ask for more .

The Apple Inn – BamburghLovely place ,lunch was delicious ,I had cheese soufflé ,tasty and light with a side salad ,generous portion with very nice dressing . Very accommodating as I asked for ‘vegetarian ‘fries .. staff said they’d organise that they be cooked in vegetable oil . My husband had the steak and ale pie which he said was excellent . Very pleasant staff and we felt very ‘safe’ there in these Covid times . We’ll be back soon to try a breakfast !

The Apple Inn – BamburghVery much enjoyed my Chicken Diane. Good service and a nice pint. The bedroom was huge with everything we needed. Great value too
The Hog’s Head Inn – MorpethOnly dropped in for a morning coffee but you can tell immediately that this place has got it going on. Such as contrast to many of the other village pubs around here which seem to be stuck in a time warp.
Angel of Corbridge – HexhamWhat a find. Had never visited Hexham before so we were strolling around and came across the Beaumont just down the road from the abbey. Hard to tell what to expect from the outside but inside it was like a buzzy Parisian brasserie, transported to Northumberland! Smart, friendly and on-the-ball waiters in overalls, an open kitchen taking up one end of the room, concise menu and wine list but with interesting choices, beautiful glassware. Really impressed and I only wish we had somewhere like this where we live.
The Beaumont – HexhamJust back from a weekend away at Langley Castle for my birthday. It’s in Northumberland, midway between Carlisle and Newcastle, and is the real deal with eight foot thick walls and dating back to the reign of Edward III in the 14th century. It’s just a few miles from Hadrian’s Wall as well as Hexham and its ancient abbey. We ate both nights in Josephine’s, the two-AA-rosette restaurant and were impressed. Candlelit, friendly and efficient service and delicious food including grouse with the start of the game season. Really quite a special and unique place to stay.
Langley Castle Hotel – HexhamEat fish and chips regularly both by the coast and inland. I have to say fish and chips from Carlos where the best I've ever had. The tartar sauce that comes with the meal (which i believe was homemade) complemented the fish perfectly. Only problem was portions were abit too big but cant complain other than that.
