Compleat Angler – NorwichThis is the third time round my family and I have been to the Roti and every time it has been perfect. The food and the service is excellent. I'd rate this the best Indian Restaurant in Norwich and recommend it to all the curry lovers.
Roti – NorwichVisited Yemek Yemek for the first time last night there was 9 of us, excellent meal, excellent service and atmosphere we all had a very good night. Will definitely go again.
Yemek Yemek – NorwichJust a note to say how wonderful our recent birthday lunch was. We had a 70th and 21st to celebrate so there was 18 of us. We were in the conservatory with another party of 19 and we all thought it was a lovely setting. The food orders were taken promptly and before we knew it the starters were out. Then the mains came and everything was so hot which is a must with some of our party. Nothing was too much trouble, asking for mint and horseradish sauces. All in all the staff were brilliant, very polite and helpful. Will definitely come again. Thanks
Brick Kilns – NorwichA family run restaurant with a very friendly, unpretentious atmosphere. Serving authentic Turkish food there is nothing quite like it in Norwich. A hidden gem.
Yemek Yemek – NorwichBest Fish and Chip shop in the area
Gottersons Fish Bar – NorwichProbably one of the best meals we have eaten in any restaurant in the UK. Mostly local produce, marvellous.
The Saracens Head – NorwichBest restaurant within 25 miles and that includes Norwich City centre
The Mermaid’s Slipper – NorwichI would highly recommend this restaurant. The food was authentic and the staff were extremely polite and courteous. As I had never tried Turkish food before they recommended some delicious dishes including the Pide. For those looking for something a bit different this restaurant is a must!
Yemek Yemek – NorwichA visit to any restaurant by a party of six people without a booking is probably not the best idea, especially on a busy Saturday evening over a Bank Holiday week-end. However, The Gate of India staff were not phased at all and asked us to sit in the waiting area. We were shown to our table within 10 minutes. A very clean and well presented decor, with the staff smartly dressed and very polite. Presented with a very extensive menu, my first thoughts were that, because of the amount of customers coming and going, we would be rushed into ordering and eating our food. How wrong I was. Everything was relaxed and the food was excellent. I would certainly recommend this venue to anyone visiting the area and will be calling again if I am in the vicinity. Gate of India – NorwichOn entering The Mermaids slipper you are welcomed by the homely warmth of the decor as well as the staff. The welcome from Carol the owner of the establishment is second to none, her natural rapport with guests is fantastic and her crisp, elegant presentation compliments the surroundings. My fiance and I booked that day by leaving a message on the answer phone and were called back within an hour or so, brilliant. We were offered a table for two at 8.30 which suited us. We were offered a drink while we relaxed in the clean white sofas in the lounge style reception area, complete with stunning wooden beams and sophisticated full length ornate golden mirror. On perusing the menu we realised the food had been carefully selected to compliment a number of tastes, starters are between £6-8 and mains £11-£20 depending obviously on your selection. Very reasonable in comparison to London prices, on par with any quality restaurant. We were taken to our table once we had ordered our food and the starter was brought to the table a few minutes later, Sofia Loren pasta, succulent pieces of fresh smoked salmon complimented the perfectly cooked al dente penne pasta with cream. Onto mains (drinks topped up regularly by waiting staff) I had the special, a lovely white fish with fresh veg, cooked to perfection, and a zesty orange sauce, a little overpowering for my palette with such a delicate white fish but I do have a very over sensitive taste. Also Thai green curry and rice well cooked and very tasty with a gentle kick, rice was not traditional Thai rice but was cooked well and to be honest traditional Thai curry is cooked with chicken thigh and I'm guessing most people would complain if they were served thigh instead of breast. Dessert was s creamy, smooth, delicious crème Brule, crisp sugar top allowing me to enjoy crunching through to reveal the sumptuous cream inside. A coffee to finish, hot and rich in flavour, all too often coffee is warm and not hot, this coffee was perfect. Bill £55 which included 3 x peroni, 1 x brandy, 1 x sparkling spring water, 1 x Sofia Loren pasta starter, 1 x fish of the day special, 1 x Thai green Curry, 1 x crème Brule I recommend this place to anyone who wants a fantastic evening as a treat or just to feel special.
