Have been here thrice. The service has always been excellent and attentive. The food is consistently superb, striking a fine balance between haute cuisine and everyday local fare. All the dishes are inventive and well thought out, without being too exotic. I look forward to visiting very often in the future.

This restaurant has been open for just over 6 months. I have been 4 times and it has been excellent every time. The soups, starters, main courses have all been very good. I will certainly be going again and again in 2023.

Sunday Roast was superbly delicious - all the usual things you'd expect on the plate, but everything just perfectly done. Starter soup (parsnip, celeriac + apple) was extraordinary - who'd have thought it could be that good!

Had 2 great meals here. Lovely ambience and friendly staff. Food cooked fresh with pan Asian flavours very subtle & excellent. Lobster fab, nut roast scrummy, especially mushroom gravy. Highly recommend this restaurant in Stromness, Orkney. Open part week so get a booking in.

The Hamnavoe is now our regular restaurant of choice. Eugene has created wonderful menus for the Thursday Anju night, Friday and Saturday delicious meals and show- stopping roasts on Sundays. Service led by Morag is spot on and wine lists are intelligently thought out. All in all an excellent place.

We’ve visited twice and both times found that the reality lived up to the excellent word of mouth. The food is imaginatively prepared with top quality ingredients. The staff are on top form. The wine list looked tempting; pity I was driving…

We have now visited this restaurant twice in the last month and have found that, as with our previous visit, the food and wine was excellent. The staff are very friendly and efficient and the whole atmosphere was very welcoming. The decor changes that have been made by the new management have also brightened up the restaurant, given it a lift, and set a very pleasant tone. I continue to recommend this restaurant for those seeking a special experience with regards to both food and wine.

The food was good. Was disappointed with the waiting times for clearing plates and the next course. Limited choice of soft drinks (2). Would like to have seen a choice of non alcoholic drinks, maybe a beer or cider. Found the staff friendly and as I said the food was good when we got it. The restaurant was quite cold, we were sat at the door to the kitchen which was quite annoying with people going to the toilet and staff going back and forth.

Exceptional standard of food. Every part of every dish was imaginative, full of exciting flavours and totally delicious. My meat loving husband adored the vegetables and other accompaniments. Best dinner out ever. Can’t wait to go back. Thank you.

Every aspect of The Hamnavoe is fantastic. The staff are very welcoming, attentive and helpful without being intrusive. The menu combines local food with very interesting flavours, we found it hard to decide. The food is presented elegantly on beautiful tableware. I mentioned in my booking that we were coming to celebrate a birthday and this wasn't forgotten by the staff which was an extra special touch. We will definitely be back and look forward to introducing friends to The Hamnavoe.

The food was delicious, staff very friendly and professional. Lovely atmosphere. Only one small criticism would be only a choice of 2 puddings. Delicious puddings nonetheless. Would highly recommend to anyone reading this.

My wife and I had a fantastic meal when we visited on Saturday. It was a first time but certainly won’t be our last. The quality local produce has been presented perfectly with a Korean twist by the chef and his team. You won’t get food anywhere else in Orkney like it - a true gem. The staff were also very friendly and attentive throughout - even though it was a busy evening! We honestly couldn’t recommend highly enough… can’t wait to try the Sunday roast!
