Great food, quality beer and wine, history and good rooms! What a find just outside Burford. The French fish soup and shoulder of lamb were perfect and great service from the friendly and informative member of staff.

Curry Paradise – WitneyDelicious but pricey for what you get. The only far eastern restaurant in Witney worth going to.
Suwanna – WitneyHad a great meal at the mermaid friendly staff excellent food great atmosphere would recommend
Mermaid At Burford – WitneyThe carvery was a really good meal and excellent value for money. The waitress, chef and reception staff were all friendly and helpful. Would recommend a visit, don't think you will be disappointed if you like British food.
Windmill – WitneyBrothertons offers delicious, authentic Italian cuisine and incredibly friendly service in charming period surroundings. I have dined there twice now and both times was very impressed by the standard of both the food and service -Bernardo, the owner, is welcoming and jovial. Granted, Brothertons is possibly fractionally more expensive than run-of-the-mill Italian restaurants, but you get a superior dining experience for your money. Excellent value all round, I particularly recommend the linguine carbonara.
Brothertons – WitneyFood is traditional pub food. Excellent portions and get value for money. Food is really nice and pub is lovely especially now as the fire is always lit and its real. Its cozy and friendly and everyone makes you feel welcome. Highly recommend the homemade chili or steak and kidney pie
Oxfordshire Yeoman – WitneyExcellent gluten-free food if you make sure you talk to the Chef!! I have a condition called "coeliac's", which means eating gluten (anything made from, or contaminated with wheat, barley or rye) makes me poorly and damages my guts. I was not expecting to find anything to eat when a group of us went to The Chequers...fortunately, I spoke to the Chef, who prepared a special swordfish steak in a chilli & lime sauce with new potatoes & veg, which was mouthwateringly delicious. I'll be back there next time I'm in the area, knowing I can get more than just a baked potato to eat!
Chequers, The – WitneySituated in the old centre of Woodstock, La Galleria offers fabulously authentic Italian food in lovely surroundings, including a courtyard for outside dining in the summer. The service, however, has been hit and miss. Sometimes, there has been no problem, but on several occasions now, the excellent food has been marred somewhat by the rudeness of the waiting staff, who have on occasion been surly and pedantic (I'm not sure some of them quite understand the notion of hospitality). It is a shame that this lets down an otherwise amazing restaurant.
La Galleria – WitneyGo to Raj or Curry Paradise instead. This place looks ok but the food in my opinion was poor - felt like I had wasted my money. Friends were also unhappy - will never go here again and nor should anyone with a bit of commonsense.
Shaan – WitneyShaan is the best Indian restaurant in Oxfordshire, Whitney. The food is delicious and appetizing. It is also very presentable. The staff make you very welcomed once you walk through the doors. I would recommend this restaurant to others.
Shaan – WitneyI have to say my opinion is a bit mixed when it comes to the restaurant. The setting is lovely, and in summer diners can sit outside and enjoy a meal in the courtyard. I have been there several times now, and while the food is fantastic, the service is temperamental and meals are pricy here. My boyfriend took me to La Galleria on Valentine's day and the meal was exemplary, although whilst we were ordering, attended by a waiter and a waitress, the waitress smirked at the waiter in response to something I had asked for, which I thought was shamelessly rude. But, thinking this was a one-off and having enjoyed the food there, I booked the restaurant for my birthday meal out this year with friends and family and the staff were rather difficult to say the least. They hurried us to order even though we were still waiting for the last members of the party to arrive; one waiter in particular was rather too jokey and pedantic to the point of rudeness the whole night, and when one of my friends simply asked if she could have a starter as a main course, a misunderstanding ensued where the staff became rude. Beware also of asking for tap water- we were presented with bottled water instead and charged for it. I'm afraid that this has rather put me off returning to the restaurant, and it is a real shame, because the food is out of this world. It is only the staff that let La Galleria down.
La Galleria – WitneyA very nice place with outstanding food, the steak is particularly delectable.
Boot Inn, The – WitneyA wonderful selection of Italian and English dishes that represent the husband and wife team's nationality. All the staff were jovial and made it a pleasure to eat the excellent food in such nice surroundings. I especially enjoyed my taglietelli and look forward to going again when I shall try another dish from the wonderful choice on the menu. I look forward to taking the family to try the Sunday lunch carvery.
Brothertons – WitneyLovely restaurant built into old barn behind front bar which has cosy log fire. Lovely food, fresh and local, interesting but not weird and good helpings. Plenty of parking. Great little woodland walk adjacent.
Hand and Shears Inn – Witney
