Had a superb meal (for two) on Sat 30/10/09 - food was so well sourced, cooked and presented - staff so friendly and efficient. The ambience was professional but casual. The puddings (we had the one where they give you a sample of all desserts) are out of this world. Highly recommended.

We ate at this restaurant two weeks ago and it was absolutely lovely. My husband had the skate and I had the whole crab. It was delicious. I managed to not hit my neighbour's in the eye with shell and was told that I had one of the cleanest table clothes ever, considering the potential for a blood bath. The staff were really lovely. They explained the dishes and were very attentive. No complaints at all, except for a loud group of Londoners on a birthday bash nearby who joined in with another group to be annoying. We are Londoners. Apart from that it was absolutely fabulous!

Hello. Myself and my husband ate at this restaurant two weeks ago. Although it was a Saturday the service was spot on. Even if I sat here and tried there was nothing to complain about. The food was amazing. I had the scallops and black pudding followed by the pork followed by "the Beast"! Do yourself a favour and get down to Padstow! Loved it. The staff were lovely which always makes a meal too.

During our recent stay in Cornwall we had many good meals including the "taster menu" at Rick's posh place. None was more memorable than last Tuesday's at Seven Bays - nice ambience, attentive and friendly service, decent wine reasonably priced and very good food. We both started with the moules mariniere which was a good as we had at The Ivy recently - and that I declared was the best I had ever had of a dish I frequently order. The whole meal was splendid - I hope to repeat the experience soon.

Lovely location, ice cold beer, but lacklustre food served by disinterested staff spoil what could be an ideal spot, sadly.

we went for a meal for our 1st wedding anniversary and what a experience, the food was out of this world. If i was rick stien i would be worried. pound for pound it was by far the best food in padstow. paul was a complete and utter gentleman, who is quite happy to come to front of house to chat with his customers, this in its self was an experience, to be able to chat to the main man of padstow. well done to paul and all his staff... and paul your taste of no.6 is wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Friendly Italian restaurant in the heart of Padstow. We are a complicated bunch of 8 plus dog and including a vegan and 3 vegetarians. Sitting outside after cycling the camel-trail (so we were a bit mud splattered!) was no problem at all - we did pre-book because it can get quite busy. Plenty of choice and very popular with our kids was a decent Margherita Pizza and the vegan was very happy with spaghetti arrabiatta. One of our party loved his seafood pasta and I had a lovely, uncomplicated greek salad with a deliciously fresh feta cheese - I also treated myself to a bowl of fries which were skinny, crispy and gorgeous - needless to say I had to share them with other keen family members who didn't order any for themselves. This is one of our regular holiday activities and we have no reason to change the habit of the last 10 years - highly recommended.

Paul’s food is in a league of its own, he twists, he turns, and he hits the mark. The simple menu descriptions let the food speak for itself, you know the ingredients when you order but what then emerges from the kitchen is nothing short of culinary alchemy. A salmon scotch egg…perfectly cooked scallops and home made black pudding a classic combination taken to new heights with silky smooth carrot puree. Risotto brought bang up to date by the clever use of pearl barley as a base. Even steak and chips benefited from the Ainsworth touch. Desserts are the work of a genius with combinations of texture and flavour that leave you in awe. Service is slick and the staff really know their stuff and to top it all Paul visits tables through out the evening and makes everyone feel as if this is their local restaurant and he has known them for years. Stop what your doing and bag a table now before the secret gets out.

Possibly the best staff in any Restaurant. They don't suffer fools gladly and are totally on the ball in a really busy place. food is really good quality and it's fast and friendly. Booking is advisable as it's hectic during summer months. I really enjoy going back to this place time after time as I know that it is always good value and service is tops!

Having spent a fabulous sunny week in Padstow we definitely ended the week on a high dining at No.6. What a fabulous experience the food was excellent!!! - The Scallops and black pudding amazing, mains and desserts to die for! We dined with our 11 year old daughter and 3 year old son and nothing was too much trouble. We could not fault any part of our dining experience the staff were courteous - they made you feel welcome and special our children loved it and so did we! We will definitely return on our next visit to Padstow - keep up the good work.

Superb! Our meal this evening was probably the best we have eaten anywhere in Cornwall in the past year. The Staff are really friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Our Mushroom starter was fabulous, the sauce with it was memorable. An absolute "must" if you are either visiting the area or, like us, live locally. We really liked the little "boothes" too. Don't bother with Steins this is the only place in the Padstow area to dine.

The Dave Thomasson hand dived scallops with black pudding and artichoke puree were divine. Cooked to perfection with a slight caramelisation which complemented the puree perfectly. I really enjoyed the the oxtail and oysters which were served in a suet crust the meat was deliciously tender. However the best course of the night was the espresso brulee with fairground doughnuts. WOW the creamy coffee custard was topped with a caramel laced with childhood "space dust" which crackled on your tongue superbly. The doughnuts were feather light and deeply rich in cinnamon. The best dessert i have tasted , I will be back for more.

Probably the only real Chef in Padstow. Paul Ainsworth is producing imaginative, interesting food in a house in Padstow. The rooms are intimate and friendly with original decor adding to the ambiance. His personal attention on the floor speaks of a talented brigade behind the scenes carrying out his meticulously designed menus. We travelled 1600 miles around England and found little to compare with his excellent food, warm and welcoming ambiance and sensible pricing. Well Done!

It really is a mean machine... turning out two to three sittings a night and if you read Rick's ambitions for it, has done the job. It produces top notch seafood, simple, very simple cooking with no frills in a chic London style restaurant. Good wine, good service and a real buzz and clatter to observe. My only reservation is that the price is Michelin two star and the food, delish as it is, is not Michelin cuisine... however with a waiting list that long, price is the only governor on it being even longer!

Having spent the week in and around Padstow we had the pleasure of spending our last evening at No.6 and we were not disappointed. We certainly saved the best to last and without any doubt No.6 was certainly the best dining experience of our stay. Food excellent, Albarino superb and Service was spot on. Its a must for anyone visiting Padstow. Jools, Katie & Rob

Excellent, a really enjoyable meal. The food was great value for money and the staff were very accommodating towards my children. The views were fantastic, I will definitely go back!

This restaurant looks OK from the outside but is hugely overpriced and the food is appalling. It has a huge menu with about 100 different choices on it (this should have set alarm bells ringing!) which can't possibly be freshly prepared. Most of it must be microwaved. We went for the 'freshly grilled fish' option (at about £20 per head). I should have noted that the menu was careful not to state 'fresh fish'. When it arrived it was overcooked, had been allowed to go cold and was quite rubbery in texture. The fish was served with chips which were OK but we had to buy vegetables separately as a side order (for £4.00). We were presented with a few bits of old (slightly brown) looking cauliflower, inedible and limp brocolli with carrots which were completely tasteless (I think these came from a tin). The staff at least had the good grace to take these off the bill when we complained. They also charge £1.50 for a childs blackcurrant squash and £5 for a bottle of water. On the menu, it is made clear that none of the items contain GM products. However, I think the management of this restaurant should be more worried about the fact that they are serving virtually inedible food that would be overpriced at half the amount we paid. This is a restaurant pretending to be something it's not. One to avoid.....
