Had my little wedding reception here in December 2023. Excellent venue with fabulous staff and really good food. The atmosphere was great and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Food was great and plentiful and Laura of the Bluebell had decorated the room for me. Everyone really enjoyed and stated it was such a brilliant atmosphere and praised the staff because of the extra miles taken. Just would like to say a big THANK YOU to all at the Bluebell in Pontefract.

Excellent meal. We will definitely eat here again!

Well I would like to give you my sincere appoligies for the comments I put down, I was well out of order. it was my mother in law what wanted me to put the comments on, and I am so sorry, we have been to your restarant many times for dinners, and we have enjoyed all that we have, mother in law as got terminal bladder cancer, and we just wanted to have a good xmas with her. but it dosent excuse the comments I put down about your restaurant. so I understand if you don't want us in your restarant again, we would love to go back there. so again I say I am very sorry for the upset. it is the first time we have gone out for xmas dinner, just wanted to do something different for mum in law. The food here is beautiful, the staff are friendly and the prices are extremely competitive. I would definitely recommend a vist!

NEVER been a lover of Indian food, but last year 2013, thought I would give it another go after a friend recommended the Spice garden. NOW it,s on the top of my list for takeaways.I Will carry on placing my orders in 2014 . Go on give it a try, you won,t be disappointed :)

Poor food, unfriendly service, appalling management attitude...AVOID!!! If anyone is considering a trip to this place then I advise you to reconsider and keep driving. From the moment we walked in the service was terrible. Met by a rude waitress who clearly didn't want to be there let alone serve our party with any form of manners. We were eventually seated after a lengthy wait for a pre-booked table. The overall food quality was  substandard at best given the prices. the quality of ale served was inconsistent with the occasional merky looking fluid that will literally begin to separate leaving a large amount of sediment at the bottom of the glass.  Please be aware of the management if you feel a complaint is in order. After complaining to the waitress I felt the quality of the food and drink should be brought to their attention as I'm sure any good restaurant owner would appreciate the feedback. Kerry Merrill, one of the managers/owners was more than happy to stand and dispute my feedback with an aggressive, condescending, augmentative manner. Jamie Merrill, the other manager/owner, couldn't even muster the enthusiasm to stand from his seat to offer any form of apology or explanation. The nail in the coffin came after showing them the merky pint of ale only to be out right told that I must have put something in it to make it look in such away and in no way shape or form could it be simply a bad pint. I was even more shocked that I was threatened with the police if the party was to leave without payment due to the appalling service. They both seriously lack good management traits with zero customer service skills. They handled my complaint with complete incompetence with the occasional use of bad language thrown in to add to there quality service.  After clearly getting no where with either of them and receiving no form of apology our party cleared the bill and left disgusted...a spoilt birthday meal! AVOID!!!

This Indian restaurant has the best food by far of any I've been to around the Wakefield area.I'm am disabled and did find the small step a bit of a problem with my walking frame,but the food was well worth the effort.The staff were very helpful once they had seen me enter.I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and will be back very soon.9 out of 10. Was recommend this little Hotel from a friend and was not let down. Went on a Wednesday night and dined in the lounge area, thou it did have a restaurant feel. I had the scallops to start with black pudding and my partner had the goats cheese tart. Both presentation was fantastic and the taste was fantastic. (We are a couple you have to taste each others!) Mains was a nice tender piece of calves liver on mustard mash, cooked just right to melt in my mouth and my partner had the pork fillet, which again was beautifully presented and the taste to accompany! The mains was served with a side of vegetables thou i am sorry to say i could fit any more in. I was to full for dessert, but my partner had a lovely chocolate fudge cake (Ok i had a little taste) All in all, i lovely recommendation and i will be returning soon

A fantastic Sunday Carvery. A choice of a small or regular plate. We opted for the regular, thinking small would be too small and the regular was huge - tender pork with crackly crackling, a large variety of veg and all served with humour and good will. Unbelievable.

Food cold, tasteless and poor quality. No wonder there is a "To Let" sign outside.

Its got to be my favourite restaurant it is so inviting and the staff are just so pleasant i must say compliments to the chef as all the food is 5 star standard i have also had catering from Cromwell's and all my guests have been very impressed if anybody is in Pontefract i would truly recommend visiting Cromwell's

This restaurant is not the biggest,but it definitely has all the right ingredients for a successful eatery,the quality of food and the whole dining experience is definitely worth every penny. Certainly five star quality. *****
