Went to almond Saturday for a Christmas meal with seven friends.it was the best Christmas dinner I've ever had. Portion sizes were great-very generous.we had a very fussy eater with us but she thoroughly enjoyed her meal too!!! the tables were well dressed.good choice of drinks, excellent service and friendly staff.we will definitely return.

visited the almond for the Ala carte menu place busy people taking advantage of the early diner Carling great value at £3 pint ordered the smoked haddock fish cakes was not impressed they were very dense in texture and didn't taste of any thing let alone smoked haddock the accompanying salad was limp and lifeless.the fillet steak and hand cut chips came with packet pepper sauce poor tomato and over cooked mushrooms Ala-carte i don't think so.

Visited this restaurant with a Living social deal I had purchased. Had a 2 course lunch deal. Very nice. Starter: dips and olives -good variety of dips. Main course: cajun burger with beautifully cooked chunky chips. Nice house wine and pleasant service.
Disappointed
Oh dear! Went to Almond on Saturday 20th March 2010. A night of disaster!!! 1st: Pumpkin soup - absolutely tasteless! and had lumps of what looked like flour floating in it - yuk. 2nd: Had plaice in a creamy sauce. Smelled very 'fishy' when it arrived and tasted even worse. I think it was off and couldn't stomach any more of it. Veg severely undercooked too. 3rd: Apple pie and custard: Raw underneath!!!! Absolutely no excuse for this bad food. Chef obviously incompetent who doesn't taste his own food for flavour. Reported to the manager at the end of the meal who said she 'was sorry about that' Never offered a refund or a solution to rectify the situation. She says on the website she 'loves customer service' - well she has no skills there either. Beware bad food at ALMOND WEST DERBY!!!!!!!

Went with my mum on Friday night at 6ish, we both had the 2 course menu for £12. I had the chicken wings which were so lovely that the chicken just fell off the bone, and my mum had the garlic mushrooms on toast which I stole a bit of and it was lovely. We then had the cajun chicken burger as they had ran out of the lamb shank which I really wanted. This was the best burger me and my mum had ever eaten, the burger was a proper chicken breast in cajun seasoning, chunky fries, coleslaw and a lovely chilli dip - we wolfed the lot down, no room for deserts so can't comment there, but saw a table getting some and they looked amazing. I would definitely recommend visiting here!

What a night! we visited Almond for the first time on Saturday and it was great! we went for my boyfriends birthday and they made it really special sirloin steak and chips was gorgeous but the whole night was made so special by the new little waiter gerant, he was just so small and cute, he also brought my boyfriend ( who he seemed to take a shine to) a cake with a candle and sang him Happy birthday! we would go back for the food but defo for gerant! what a star!

Myself and my wife visited the almond on Saturday night and were quite disappointed with the whole evening. we waited over 20 minuted for our starters, which both looked messy and rushed, then the mains were cold and over priced. im all for supporting local causes, but the least i expect is warm food. the restaurant is also very cramped. And since im complaining...the drinks are also over priced.

visited a couple of times and thought food was really good, menu designed well and a good range of different foods available, cooked well by the chef! I had the scollops on chirozo and pea puree and the "almond burger" which were both cooked to perfection. It has a nice atmosphere, the waiters and waitresses could be a bit more on the ball, both times i have been left without cutlery after starters as there is just 1 set. The lack of set menu through the week means i don't visit more often.

I visited almond with my partner this evening and had a lovely meal! We had a huge burger with amazing chips, and sausage n mash...no ordinary sausage n mash tho, this was the biz!!! Well worth visiting!
