The best restaurant in Meads. One of the top three in Eastbourne! Service was spot-on, nice and knowledgeable, and very friendly, which made a big difference to the whole experience. Definitely going back again soon!

We loved Ancient Grains. Space to breathe (and hear each other), a well curated menu, delicious dishes, and friendly, attentive staff. This is what a family run restaurant should be. A rare find.

We ate there on a Saturday evening. Lovely atmosphere and great friendly service. The menu consisted of Sardinian dishes and what we had was delicious. Not cheap but very relaxed and attentive service with great food and so made it feel value for money.

Delightful Dining Experience! From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we felt genuinely welcomed. The staff provided a thoughtful explanation of the menu, making it easy to choose the dish. The food itself was exceptional—beautifully presented, wonderfully original, and bursting with flavor. Overall, a fantastic experience with great service, an inviting atmosphere, and truly outstanding food. We will definitely be returning soon!

Another superb meal at Ancient Grains; as always, consistent and never to be disappointed. Somewhat of a great achievement for Carla and Davide. Many congratulations!

My wife and I were looking for a different experience in the food line. We certainly found it with Ancient Grains. The first time we went, we had sea bass which needs careful cooking. It was superb! Because the meal was so good, we went back and tried their Sunday roast. That meal was also beautifully cooked. Davide the chef certainly knows his stuff. It's a 10/10 for me.

We had high hopes for this new place. It came recommend. We had aubergine to start. Way too salty. The Lamb pie starter was just hard pastry with no filling. Barely any meat at all. So no taste. We ordered wild boar ragu and the seafood pasta for mains. The seafood pasta was ok. But not enough seafood. The sauce was rather boring. The wild boar sauce was exactly the same sauce used int he seafood pasta but there was virtually no meat at all. Also portion size was half that of the seafood pasta. But the dishes looked exactly the same. There was no chocolate option for dessert. Never mind we opted for a baked cheese cake type affair but it was pretty awful, just tasted of an egg custard. Underwhelming and with supermarket vanilla ice cream on the side. Eating out is a major luxery these days as it’s so expensive. Was such a shame.

A small neighbourhood restaurant that is all about authenticity. Never having visited Sardinia, some of the dishes were unknown to me but super delicious. The braised baby octopus were outstanding.
