About A’Vucciria

A'Vucciria in Palermo is one of Italy’s most visited markets and it translates literally as 'hubbub’. It describes a humble place where you can enjoy simple and tasty plates of food washed down with good wine and beer or a cocktail. Rawtenstall’s A'Vucciria celebrates the Sicilian culture of eating, drinking and socializing and you can nip in for a casual bite at the bar or sit down for a three-course meal. It’s a stylish venue with a mezzanine floor that can be hired for private parties and events. Inspired by Sicilian street food, the kitchen team delivers the best of modern and traditional Italian flavours, using top-quality local and Sicilian produce. The food is complemented by a well-chosen selection of largely Italian and Sicilian wines as well as a bespoke drinks menu incorporating Italian Craft Beer and Cider and a range of premium cocktails and spirits. Open every day except Tuesday for lunch and dinner.

Booked for 5 people for Sons birthday. Had a few drinks then ordered food. Food, as always was fab. Service could have been so much better. It was Thursday night and it’s Jan so fairly quiet but it was obvious the staff just wanted us gone. We ordered a few dishes to begin with then, two we’re not received and we had to remind the waitress who apologised and made sure we got them. We then ordered a few more dishes, as is the way with small dishes rather than ordering all at once. When these were finished we then ordered a few more, this seemed to annoy the waitress even though it was only 8.30 and she had already told us the kitchen closed at 9. Shame really as spending over £300 in January you would have expected better. Had made a note on booking that is was my Sons birthday and they brought him a wooden board with icing sugar on saying happy birthday, slightly embarrassing and a little stingy, probably would have been best to bring nothing would be my suggestion. Can’t ever fault the food but the service was poor at best.

Delicious food as always. Very quick service (we were there at 5pm, though it was a Saturday). Very friendly and helpful staff.

There were four people in our group, two are vegetarians. The food was amazing, we had the cheese board and the mixed meat and cheese board to start. Calamari, meatballs, lamb, cod and frittata were delicious and cooked to perfection. Beautiful wine and Prosecco. The service was excellent and the ambiance was lovely. It’s a 10 out of 10 from us. Can’t wait to return.

We had a lovely evening on New Years Eve. I had requested a specific seating area by email and this was fulfilled. The waiting on staff were polite friendly and hospitable and our food was really lovely. We had the meat and cheee board, a bruschetta selection and a fish platter. The ambience of the bar was perfect and not too busy but had an overall pleasant vibe . Avuccuria is our favourite bar and we would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone. You will not be disappointed! 10/10 from us!
