AWFUL STEAK...first 2 items on menu unavailable, so had mixed grill it was terrible... Steak was so tough I left it, when plates were collected nothing was questioned as to why myself & another party member had left most of our dinner , also nowhere to park had to walk 2 streets away in rain.

Lovely Sunday carvery. Also great bar food.

fantastic suburban restaurant just a few miles from the city, we ate in the restaurant but will be back for barfood (only 2 meals for ten pounds we will give it a go next time we are in the area) The restaurant was decorated beautifully in a kind of modern Gothic purple with lovely set tables complete with charger plates and modern glasses. We where given complimentary marinated olives and bread whilst looking at the menu. I chose the smoked pate and my partner the black pudding. the pate actually came out smoking and my partners black pudding was topped with a "deepfried" egg. This Was a kind of breadcrumbed parcel that exploded with yolk when cut into...Fantastic! The main courses where equally as good My partner having the lamb shank and my self the Wild Seabass. Amazing value at only £14-£15 for both course

we had a wonderful Sunday lunch here just before Christmas. We were a large party so had to find somewhere that could cater for us all at once, we found the ideal place in the Barbacoa. The carvery that is served upstairs in a spacious room with a lovely relaxed atmosphere was fantastic. The cooking was amazing and the choice of meat and veg was more than enough for even the fussiest of eaters! The quality was far greater than any of the mass produced national chain carveries everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. The service was great not at all intrusive but visible and available when needed. I am always nervous of taking a large party somewhere I would like to thank the Barbacoa for making me look really good!

I ate from the two for one bar meals menu and paid a tenner for two main meals. The fish & chips were outstanding, a generous portion of fresh fish in a cains bitter beer batter. My partner had the peppered chicken which was the best pepper sauce ever. Fresh vegetables make a big difference instead of the frozen rubbish usually served in bars. I have been back since and will go again. At a tenner for two main meals, you cant cook at home for that!

The food was good, but was a bit expensive. It was a bit off putting for the chef to be coming out of the kitchen wiping sweat off his brow every now and then, but the surroundings are lovely.
La Barbacoa
I've been to several Italian restaurants in the city centre over the last few months and this is the first to leave me feeling like I've been on a successful gastronomic adventure. Very good food, priced right and pleasant service. Only down point was the Italian chardonnay (new to me);rather watery and could have been chilled more.
La Barbacoa
the food was really nice it is one of the best places i have eaten before
