About The Beehive

The Beehive on Sedgeletch Road in Sunniside, near Houghton-le-Spring, has long been a popular fixture of the local drinking and dining scene. The pub still has the old Vaux Brewery signage inside, along with lots of original features and is open daily from 11.30am with food served Wednesday to Sunday right through from 12 noon onwards. You can eat in the restaurant or bar area as well in the beer garden when the weather permits. Expect a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and delicious home-cooked food. Plus live music every Saturday from 9pm.

Visited yesterday with quite high expectations thanks to some great facebook adverts. The service was fantastic, we were seated straight away, drinks were excellent quality but to be honest the food absolutely stole the show. The best dining out experience we have had as a family for many years, will be visiting again and again.

After visiting The Beehive a number of times over the years, I was very disappointed with my last visit. Starting with the waitress who merely pointed to our table and then disappeared for around ten minutes, not even asking if we would like a drink. Furthermore the one thing my family look forward too is the specials, which we follow via FB. However, when the waitress did finally arrive back at our table and we were able to ask her questions (and requested to order drinks), she told us that this was a new menu and that the burger which had been advertised that sane day was mo longer part of the menu as off the previous day. We left after paying for drinks. Felt very disappointed with not only poor service, which was unusually for The Beehive, but also the false advertising.

Lovely food and service! Me and my friends have been meeting up at the Beehive for about 3 years now and the food and service has always been fantastic! And it’s keeps us coming back again and again!

Made a booking easy, called to clarify we would be bringing a baby and the staff were more than accomodating. The owners and staff were woth us and the baby. Offering help advice a d going out fo their way to help with anything.. The food was great too just a shame baby made it difficult to have it whilst hot.

Where do I start . From the second we walked to leaving, everything was perfect. Food was out of this world. Portion size and prices were spot on too.. All staff that waited on us were brilliant but a lady called Michelle stood out a mile.. ger service was the best. Would highly recommend

Second visit in 2 weeks, first for a Sunday lunch & was so impressed with the quality of the food & the service the staff gave that we returned the week later on the Thursday evening with friends & once again the food was fantastic as well as the staff who couldn’t do enough for us. Lovely meal as always. New table layouts are much better great atmosphere. Food was tasty and huge portions. Kids had dessert and both cheesecakes looked amazing love coming here
