About The Beehive

The Beehive on Sedgeletch Road in Sunniside, near Houghton-le-Spring, has long been a popular fixture of the local drinking and dining scene. The pub still has the old Vaux Brewery signage inside, along with lots of original features and is open daily from 11.30am with food served Wednesday to Sunday right through from 12 noon onwards. You can eat in the restaurant or bar area as well in the beer garden when the weather permits. Expect a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and delicious home-cooked food. Plus live music every Saturday from 9pm.

Lunch with a friend. Had a Chicken Shawarma Wrap & a Fish Finger sarnie, both off the lunch light bites menu. Service and food quality was superb. We were drooling at all the other plates coming out of the kitchen. Still haven't managed to try a dessert yet as always too fill from main. An exceptional place for food.

Always tremendous whenever we visit. There's ample choice on the menu I have never had the same dish twice. Tried the mince & dumplings this time and was 10/10. My other half had the vegetarian pasta and loved her meal too. 2 main meals a dessert and 2 alcoholic drinks each only came to £55. Great value for money and generous portion sizes.

We usually just pop up for a drink whilst on a dog walk if the weathers okay and sit outside however we haven’t had a chance to dine in in ages. We decided to do a date night and we’re not disappointed. The portions are massive and definitely value for money. Food was gorgeous and staff lovely. We will definitely be trying to make more of a regular appearance for food!

Food was decent and value for money. Service never came with a smile or any enthusiasm waiters rarely seen to get more drinks etc and the music was just too loud for a place to eat
