About The Beehive

The Beehive on Sedgeletch Road in Sunniside, near Houghton-le-Spring, has long been a popular fixture of the local drinking and dining scene. The pub still has the old Vaux Brewery signage inside, along with lots of original features and is open daily from 11.30am with food served Wednesday to Sunday right through from 12 noon onwards. You can eat in the restaurant or bar area as well in the beer garden when the weather permits. Expect a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and delicious home-cooked food. Plus live music every Saturday from 9pm.

First time at The Beehive and wasn't disappointed, the place is lovely, staff all friendly and helpful, the food was lovely all be a bit too much for me as im not a big eater. Wide range of meals. But, because the restaurant area is small once we were finished eating we were told that they needed the table for the next customers, we were only allowed 90 minutes from sitting down to actually finishing our meal, and we only had a main course and shared a dessert, we were asked to move over to the small bar area.

Absolutely love this pub now it’s our local and new to the area Food is absolutely Delicious and out of this world n servings are wow ya get loads for ya money. And all staff are so lovely and friendly and make you feel very welcome. They really are Amazing and go above and beyond to help Thank you Diane

Went for Sunday lunch with my wife and two family. Food was excellent as usual and good value. We had Turkey and one of the party had fish and chips, all good. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was not so good though, dining area was full and incredibly noisy. Badly behaved children with other child sitting at the table with a tablet watching a film that everyone could hear. Not the pubs fault but people could be a bit more considerate. Will still be going back though.

Was told by a friend to go!! Wow is all I can say. The food was amazing, the service very efficient nothing to much trouble. Will def be back. Hear the Sunday lunches are phenomenal

Visited Thursday 10th,me and wife both had on of the flatbreads meals,I had naughty naan,and wife had peppercorn steak....very generous portions(you won't leave still hungry)...both meals were delicious,short waiting time,pleasant and helpful staff....but the highlight was the pork belly bites,these have to be tried to be believed, fantastic.full bellies,4 rounds of drinks,just over £70.....you have to try this place.

Came here for my dad's birthday. The food was outstanding. You couldn't fault the price of the food by what was on the plate. You get that much you need a doggie bag to take it home.

Easy online booking and a brilliant place for food. The service was first class as was the food. One of the best pork belly bites I have had. Highly recommend a visit folks.
