About Birdies Restaurant

Birdies Restaurant is a family run French Bistro located in the heart of Whitstable.  Owners Philip and Sue Colthup first opened the doors in 1993 after successful careers as highly qualified chefs in New York and London and their authentic French menu changes daily using fresh, local and seasonal produce. Their passion and love for French cuisine is showcased in the restaurant’s unique atmosphere and exquisitely served traditional French dishes, local seafood and Birdies classics. Signature dishes include Beef Wellington with Red wine Jus, Crispy Monkfish with Sweet Soy and Ginger and their Normandy-Style Fish Stew. The wine list offers an international selection chosen to complement the menu. As well as the a la carte menu, a good-value set lunch menu is available Tuesday to Saturday.

We went yesterday for an unforgettable lunch, the restaurant was packed busy with no spare tables although it was just a basic Wednesday, however a super sunny day. All tables were precooked but nevertheless the very welcoming, helpful and extremely good looking young men suggested we can eat at the bar if we wish to, so l said thank you that's lovely, but is the food the same ? He answer YES NO MORE NO LESS ! Wow by golly wit and beauty !! We had our lunch and as always it was exquisite, plus that feeling of being on holiday in France hence the decor and atmosphere. We were so delighted we went home then phoned them to reserve a table with friends for my 75th birthday, we couldn't possibly wish for a better place with better food anywhere else. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE PRIVILEGE

Seven of us visited the restaurant on Saturday 6th February for lunch. Each and eyeryone of us agreed the service food etc was 1st class, and for the quality of the food very good value. It was a family get but together which we will do again in the near future. Well done Birdies you made our day extra special. Thankyou
