About Bombay Balti Restaurant

Bombay Balti has been a feature of the Lancaster dining scene since 2000. It's housed in a listed building on China Street and on entering there is a bar area with comfortable leather seating. The restaurant can seat up to 72 diners and has been refurbished in a contemporary style. All the kitchen staff are trained by the chef patron and the chefs create all the dishes to the house style‚ using a unique blend of spices. The Chicken Tikka Karalla and the Steak chilli fry are very popular and for a taste of Bangladesh and Afghanistan try the Chicken or Lamb Shatkora or the Kabule Lamb. Bombay Balti is open from 5pm til late daily and a two-course Early Bird menu is available from 5pm-7pm, Sunday to Thursday.

Ate here this weekend. The service was fantastic and the food equally so. Everything arrived piping hot and tasted great. Look forward to our next visit

food is the best I have tasted in Lancaster no doubt it! but unfortunately the service is the worst! the barman/ waiter is a racist who generally makes all the British people comfortable and treats the others with disdain! He asked my friend to use a previously used glass with a lemon wedge in it to use again for drinking water!!! and when asked to make a complaint about it , his reply was that he does not care about what we think!!

As seasoned Asian food eaters, we're somewhat difficult to please! Ate at Bombay Balti for the first time last week and can honestly say its the best we've tasted in Lancaster over recent times. Good, varied menu (unlike some other restaurants in the area who have churned out the same dishes for ten years plus)! Food was nicely presented and service was efficient. The only drawback? A well stocked bar and some heavy drinkers in the restaurant. Prefer an alcohol-free environment. We shall, however most definitely return very soon in order to try some of the other exciting dishes on offer.

well i must say after going here on a regular basis it seems this place is all glamour and the food has really gone down hill. the curry's are watery and everything taste the same. my starter was cold and when i complained to the waiter he just smiled back. i can definitely say this was my last time here.

BOMBAY BALTI in Lancaster SUCKS!!!!! One of my friends happens to work there and I came to know that they don't wash the table cloths for two weeks. The same dirty cloth is used on the tables. What was shocking was that they have a huge pool of water in which they immerse the their hands and the same water is used for cooking. the food is soo expensive, if you go to Sultan of Lancaster, u get amazing food with great service. Just look at the pathetic safety record given by the Lancaster COuncil.. http://www.lancaster.gov.uk/Documents/EnvHealth/FHI/BombayBaltiChinaStLancaster_301107.pdf

Ok ... I am just wanted to share my experience as this not so good a place... We went there for dinner and guess what the entire table sheet was fithy and covered with food...When we asked them to change them the guy started to crib and later brought another sheet which was again filled with filth... Guess these people dont wash anything ... Now coming on the food... tell me... do these people really knkow what is Indian food ... I say no... Please see below a link for the health and safety report for the place.. decide for yourself. http://www.lancaster.gov.uk/Documents/EnvHealth/FHI/BombayBaltiChinaStLancaster_301107.pdf All the Best !!! At your own rsik !!

Myself and a friend dined here last night. The food was very nice and we didn't wait long for our food. Drinks were brought promptly too. It cost £38 for two and we had plenty so prices definitely fair enough. Just a couple of things though which I feel are worth mentioning. After our starter we were asked to move to a different table to accommodate a party of 15. Not ideal when you're dining out but we decided we could live with it. The real sticky point for me is that we were brought the bill before we asked for it which I feel is rude and not usual. We still had drinks left and we were not asked if we would like anything further to round off our meal. I really didn't think much of it at the time but on reflection I think it is a bit off to be honest. You may think we were perhaps rowdy or annoying but I can assure you we're just typical 30 something friends having a catch up. Anyway, I would definitely recommend this place for its food but for me I probably won't return. Round the corner is Shabab which I would say is the top tip of this recommendation. Ellie, Lancs

Don't let anyone tell you any different. I have eaten in all the curry houses in Lancaster, and I mean every one, and BB is by far the best. Yes, even better than the one that wins curry awards every year. Also get a delivery, it is restaurant standard delivered to your door. Recommendation = chicken tikka karella, a special of the chef, Naz. Top man too.
