About Boquerones Tapas and Cocktails

Boquerones Tapas and Cocktails is the first and only Spanish restaurant in Heaton, located on the up-and-coming foodie destination, Heaton Road. Boquerones brings the best of traditional and modern tapas to Newcastle with classic tapas dishes like croquetas, patatas bravas and tortilla espanola joined on the menu by the chef's original dishes. The wide range of tapas is complemented by a good choice of wines (including sangria), drinks and cocktails. As well as the beautifully appointed ground floor dining space there is a basement private dining area – The Picasso Room – which can seat up to 32 diners and is ideal for private functions and celebrations. Boquerones is open for dinner Tuesday to Saturday and for Saturday lunch.

This is my fourth visit to Boccquerones in 5 months as I keep taking people there for a treat as I just know they will love it. This visit for lunch was a birthday gift for my friend. She is vegetarian and occasionally eats fish so I knew she’d like it as Boquerones has such a great range of vegetarian tapas. Really friendly and helpful service, our server helped steer us to the aubergine (really enjoyable) so we didn’t end up with too much bread. All the food was gorgeous but particular mentions must go to the baked feta and the mushrooms in the blue cheese, parsley, cream and white wine sauce. Needless to say my friend loved it. Another plus point of this local gem is they do an excellent range of wine by the glass which comes in handy when one of you drinks red and the other white. I had a lovely Albariño the quality of which you don’t often see by the glass. Came to £90 for 6 tapas 4 glasses of wine and a tip well worth it, but you could easily spend less and still have great food. If you like to local, and support independent businesses then I throughly recommend Boquerones

We visit Newcastle regularly and looking for a place to eat when I saw a tapas restaurant with good reviews then I decided we’d give it a go. Now you have to expect tapas to be a little different to traditional starter/main/dessert -Dishes come randomly. We really enjoyed our meal. Individual ingredients and tastes. Definitely be on our list to revisit. No cause for complaint- staff friendly and helpful. Bread with olives might have been even better had it been warmed a little but just a personal preference.

Booked on line at very short notice based on very good trip advisor reviews. We were not disappointed. All the dishes were tasty and freshly prepared. The dishes were brought out two at a time as per our request. We tried some of the blackboard specials and main menu sharing 7 different dishes and all were authentic to Spain and the Mediterranean. We were very happy and despite being a long way from where we live we would be happy to return. A bit quiet when we arrived at 4pm but was busier with a lot more atmosphere when we left. Friendly service. All good. What’s not to like !

Delicious as always! Lovely, friendly service, excellent food, very understanding of children. We've been multiple times and it's great every time. Must have at least one chorizo in honey between two (and I'm not even a great chorizo fan), large bravas is enough for 4, and always MORE AUBERGINES!!!

Sublime. Each of the 12 dishes we ordered were fantastic. I would particularly recommend the chorizo in honey; the pork in the Dijon sauce; the cod bites; and the fillet steak.

Visited with a few friends and we were blown away by the food - extremely good. Staff were friendly and attentive as well. The drinks menu suits the food and atmosphere to a T as well. Looking forward to my next visit.
