About Britannia Inn

The Britannia Inn is a classic Lakeland inn, steeped in tradition, with a history stretching back two centuries, although the building itself dates back 500 years. It's in the heart of walking country, surrounded by the Langdale fells. The Britannia is one of the best al fresco dining venues in the Lakes, with more seating outside than in. Cuisine is Modern British and they have won CAMRA awards for the cask ales here with seven on tap at any one time. If you wish to stay over, there are nine en-suite rooms.

Love this place. A real Lakeland Inn located in Elterwater a perfect spot. The weather was far from perfect so lunch was great to escape the torrent. Fine Cumbrian Ales and hearty food. My chicken, ham and leak pie was spot on and the wife enjoyed the soup. The Britannia Inn is a must if in the Langdales!

What a wonderful end to a walk around Elterwater and Little Langdale. The seating out front here is a real suntrap and once you’ve managed to snag yourself a table, it’s really quite difficult to tear yourself away. Just had a snack and a couple of pints of lovely Jennings real ale whilst sat soaking up the spring sunshine. I can’t imagine there are too many places better to eat al fresco in the entire Lake District.

The food and the service were very good, and the chips were the best ive tasted for a long time, very fresh! Nice selection of ales. Great location, perfect place to stop off on your walks!

With exception of being devoured by midges I really enjoyed my Cumberland sausage and mash with a couple of exceptional pints of Jennings bitter. Both the midges and I had a fine feast!

One of our favourite pubs, with excellent choice of real ales and good food. Very busy at lunchtimes and early evenings. This is a pub to stay overnight and enjoy the relaxation in totality.
