About The Middle Stump

The Middle Stump opened doors in March 2024 at Burnmoor Cricket Club, situated between between Houghton-le-Spring and Chester-le Street. The new restaurant is open Friday and Saturday evenings and for Sunday Lunch. It’s where culinary excellence meets cricket passion with a menu that’s been thoughtfully created to provide something for everyone with fish and vegetarian options, a kids menu and a Sunday Lunch menu with a selection of roasts to choose from. Burnmoor Cricket Club dates back to 1873 and plays in the Dukes North East Premier League.

Friday night tea- lovely, tasty Friday night tea with the family after winter nets training. Bacon smash burgers were delicious and the pizzas went down a treat with the kids. Fast and friendly service and great prices.

Beautiful Christmas Lunch served in a modern festive environment. Great choice of food, piping hot and tasty. Christmas crackers were a nice addition and made lunch more festive for the family. Fast service, loads of staff on hand to serve drinks and assist with any requests. Excellent value for money especially with the kids eat free deal which we were not expecting.

Had Sunday lunch a couple of times now and haven't been disappointed. Traditional Sunday lunch with plenty veg and yorkshire puddings. Really good value for money. Great little restaurant and the staff can't do enough for you. Looking forward to next time already.

Good meal good atmosphere friendly staff I have two issues though. First young waitresses tend to plonk glasses down instead of placing them on the table.second on Sunday when we visited a family were enjoying a little girls birthday, when it came to them sharing the birthday cake a little boy asked for sticky toffee pudding but was told they had stopped serving leaving him very disappointed , surely they could have served him would have only taken a minute and would have given the club some kudos.

Great place to visit for a Sunday dinner. Has a homely feel to the place. Portion was big and everything was cooked to perfection.Amazing value for money!
