About Cafe Istanbul

One of Manchester's longest-established restaurants, Cafe Istanbul on Bridge Street offers diners an extensive choice of Turkish and Mediterranean dishes with a choice of a la carte, set menu and early bird. The chefs in the open kitchen prepare dishes in a variety of styles including char-grilled, spit-roasted and slow-baked and popular choices range from Stuffed aubergine and Stuffed vine leaves to Slow-baked Apricot lamb, complemented by a 30-bin wine list. Café Istanbul also has a 60-seater function room designed by the team behind San Carlo a and has an intimate and sophisticated ambience. It has its own feature bar and ideal for events, private dinners and launches.

Came here Saturday 10 th June 2023, not been for a few years as they had changed the chef so food wasn’t as good but we decided to give it another try and so glad we did as when we got in there my partner Lee noticed that the old chef was back and it was so nice to see him, the food was amazing and a big shout out to our waiter Abdel he was really good very attentive and just a really lovely man nothing too much trouble for him and also a big shout out to Jalal the chief , we love this place and would highly recommend it so do give it a try you won’t be disappointed oh and they also have a takeaway service that is open till 4 in the morning.

I have recently eaten in Cafe Istanbul for business meetings where the food, service and surroundings were excellent. Having had such an amazing experience I now use Cafe Istanbul for personal dinners. The menu is extensive with amazing choices cooked with the finest ingredients! The wine list is extensive and the staff are knowledgeable No wonder this restaurant is longest run privately owned restaurant in Manchester!!! I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough!!

My girlfriend and i ate here a few months ago, pre show.. We didn't want to leave in the end.. Great food, good service and nice wines.. The shared platters they do are very filling and very nice indeed. We'll be back here soon before we go to the real thing in July, Turkey itself.

Went for my birthday with my girlfriend and friends who came down from London.Have always enjoyed turkish cuisine especially after my holiday to Alanya.Very disappointing meal. Staff took a long time to sort a table out.To be honest the waitress ignored us for 20 minutes even though several tables were empty. Food was below average.Plates and cutlery were dirty and my friend had to ask for his cutlery to be replaced.Wont be going back.

This is one of my favourite places to eat. The choice of starters is brilliant, and meat eaters will be in heaven! The chargrilled fish is fabulous , and the veggie moussaka is an old favourite (a couple more veggie items wouldn't come amiss!). For those who aren't sure - try the pre-theatre menu for £10.50 - brilliant value for money. Nice wine selection too.
