I had wanted to try Cafe Rouge for ages after seeing their menu online and I wasn't disappointed. Excellent service, friendly staff - I couldn't say a bad word about this place. I had the baked mushroom starter, the poulet breton for main and tarte tatin for dessert. All three courses were delicious. I would definitely go back.

I was very surprised to find out that this is part of a chain - because the food was very very good. The menu has a great choice, from small snacks to more substantial dishes. I had a pancake filled with smoked haddock and baked in a white sauce and cheese, which was very tasty, my boyfriend went for a chicken salad - sounds boring but it wasn't. It had a nice selection of really green leaves, meaty chunks of chicken and loads of good blue cheese. The prices can seem a bit dear, but after tasting the food I think it was worth every penny. We had decent wine, and the service was good, helpful but not in your face. The restaurant itself is decked out like a Parisian cafe - and a very convincing effort it is. I definitely recommend this place.
