CAU captures the vibrancy of Argentina within its contemporary décor while the menus embody the melting pot that is South American cuisine with influences from both Spain and Italy making an appearance too. Well known for its succulent Argentinian beef, you will not be disappointed with the options available with burgers and steaks to choose from and both classic and specialty cuts on offer. In fact there are a total of eight different cuts of beef to choose from. Opt for the classic medallions of lomito or for the more adventurous try tapa de cuadril, cut from the top of the rump. This is CAU’s signature dish served the Brazilian way – thinly sliced and flash grilled for a melt in the mouth experience. Small plates have become increasingly popular with diners and there is a good choice at CAU. As well as Italian and Spanish options, for the more traditional choice try the picada, a selection of Argentinian-style charcuterie served with sourdough and pickles. Sunday roast comes with Yorkshire Pudding (not so South American) and if you’ve still got room give the CAU cornflake ice cream sundae a go, complete with tempting layers of cornflake-flavoured ice cream, cornflakes, crumbled chocolate brownie and dulce de leche. (Twenty pence is donated to the local children’s hospice for every sundae ordered.)
