I went here with my daughter over the weekend and honestly we would not recommend it. To get in you have to ring a bell, as nobody was waiting for us and we were told they "don't want to disturb the hotel guests". The man who answered the door wasn't very welcoming, and despite our booking clearly stating this was a birthday celebration, he didn't acknowledge it at all. The wine was nice, and very expensive, but served in some sort of ludicrously oversized glasses. The tapas was really overpriced : we paid £18 for a small, dry, brown cut-up piece of pitta bread, a tiny bowl of hummus and dip, a few dry olives, and some almonds that were nice but were whisked away half eaten the moment we asked for the bill. To cap it off, you aren't even allowed to use the bathroom inside the hotel. Instead you're sent out to a wooden shack labelled the "poop room", which hardly added to the really nice, posh drink experience we had been hoping for. Not the experience we wanted, and not one we'd repeat.

We were served by a very friendly waiter who was very efficient.

Thoroughly enjoyed our early evening meal at the Upper Deck. The food was delicious, beautifully prepared and cooked, and it was lovely to sit on the terrace overlooking the bay. My only criticism was with the chairs which were really hard and uncomfortable - I desperately needed a cushion! We will return but we will sit inside on the paddad seats.

Great Food and Service, hidden gem

Lovely setting on the terrace with stunning sea views. Tapas selections included many standard dishes but several more unusual choices plus daily specials. All tasted lovely & freshly cooked. Friendly service & helpful tips given for our ferry trip across to Brixham the following day. A great find !

Upper Deck Bistro comes highly rated on Google and it absolutely didn't disappoint. The location is wonderful - in a fairly quiet location but with beautiful sea views. We both felt very welcomed and looked after. The food was heavenly - plenty of meat and vegetarian options, which is great. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Paignton.

Very much an impulse booking having looked at the sample menu online so happy to get in early evening. Nice venue positioned at the quieter [north] end of Preston, great balcony seating [we had the weather for it!] Attentive and friendly service from Peter and fantastic food from Ruth! Some different tapas options, all of which we enjoyed, especially as the calamari was a delight [rice flour!] pollo rebodazo has an addictive dressing and the cauilflower was a taste explosion. We will be back!

Lovely setting with sea views, we would like to have sat on the terrace but it was too windy! The food was very tasty, a good selection of dishes. We had 4 plates between the two of us plus some bread (very nice) which we found ample. The dessert menu was very small, could have done with more choice but we were too full anyway!
