Edinburgh Mal is a truly gorgeous riverside property which has seen many colourful goings-on over the years. It's been a Seaman's mission and even a house of ill-repute for ladies of the night. Nowadays, however, it attracts a far more salubrious crowd. Wander through the doors and you're met by a grand staircase, slinky sofas in the lobby and the doorways to brasserie and bar nirvana. It's perched on the banks of the Forth in Leith, within walking distance of the great restaurants and bars in Leith and only minutes from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Eating out in Edinburgh has never been more romantic or seductive. The brasserie is the Malmaison's heart and soul, serving beautifully presented, delicious food in delightful surroundings. The brasserie has recently been restored to its original atmospheric glory, and is dressed with leather banquettes and an abundance of candle light and wrought ironwork. Sample great-tasting cuisine prepared by head chef Colin Manson and his team with incredible local ingredients, served up with a genuine excitement whether it's business lunches, quick light healthy bites or a romantic dinner for two. Private dining rooms in Edinburgh are few and far between. Good ones are even rarer. The Edinburgh Mal offers private dining for up to 60.
