I visited Clarkes with my partner after a colleague commented on how wonderful the food was. As I entered the restaurant I was greeted with a big smile from a very attentive young lady. I was very impressed with the variety offered by the menu and even more so by the specials offered. The meal was lovely and the food was divine, I especially enjoyed the Poppy seed Cheesecake, something I have never encountered before. On the whole the evening was very enjoyable, my only complaint is during our desserts the music was raised to a very unsociable level making the polite conversation I had been enjoying during the evening difficult to continue, Had the music remained at a more sociable level we may have considered ordering another bottle of wine. Although I enjoy background music I was not aware the restaurant turned into a Disco at the latter stage of the evening!

I visited clarkes last weekend whilst visiting the city with some friends. On first impressions the restaurant looks a little muddled from the outside with wife faint paintwork and oversized pot plants, but once I walked inside i was pleasantly surprised by the decor and cheerful greeting by a bubbly young waitress. We were seated on a small table near the door so could see the hustle bustle of the restaurant. Once the waitress had taken our drinks order and relayed the nights specials we decided to peruse the menu for a little while. We both finally made our cession of a curried crab and poppadom starter for myself and what ended up being a almost classic prawn cocktail for my partner. Then for mains the fillet steak with brandy sauce and the catch of the day which was seabass fillets with a king prawn and mango salsa. I chose the steak, and it was cooked to perfection but i still felt a little jealous of my wife’s colourful fish dish. The wine that was suggested went down beautifully and if we were not in a rush to meet people I’m sure we would have stayed for longer. Unfortunately we didn't taste the wares of the dessert menu but from what i saw whilst eating they were all homemade delights, All in all it was a truly fantastic evening and we would recommend eating there to anybody. My Compliments to the chef
