About The Coach and Horses

The Coach and Horses at Timbersbrook dates back to 1825, but there has been a pub here for many centuries and previously it was known as The Fairhouse. It’s nestled under a hill just outside Congleton, close to the Neolithic Bridestones Burial Chamber and to The Cloud, one of Cheshire's few peaks and one with outstanding views over the West Cheshire Plain. Home-cooked food is served six days a week here and is complemented by five cask ales, a great selection of wines (including 17 by the glass) and a huge gin shelf. Dogs are welcome and there’s an excellent beer garden which really makes the most of the views.

What a great find! Having lunch with an old school friend, we tried to find somewhere equidistant between our two homes and the Coach and Horses fit the bill. We're so glad to have chosen it! The staff were incredibly welcoming, polite and friendly, and the decor inside is lovely, a bright but cosy charm (not the usual chain-pub predictable). We noticed that there are spectacular views from the outside seating that would be a real draw on a dry day. The food was tasty, quite a traditional menu, but options for everyone. I had soup instead of a main to leave room for dessert and I was rewarded with a positively gargantuan portion of apple & berry crumble with custard, of which I enjoyed every bit. Oh, and the coffee is good too! We will be back!

What a lovely country pub, nothing was too much trouble, food was very good, they made my Granddaughter feel very special on her birthday, will definitely be returning . Views are absolutely stunning.

I cannot say enough good things about this pub. It has such a cosy, welcoming, local feel. A true country pub. It’s beautiful inside. You can tell the food is well made and they take pride in their menu. It’s dog friendly and boy are they welcoming to your dog. It’s lovely. Not only are the staff friendly but locals were very nice. We felt welcomed there. I cannot recommend this pub any more. This is my new local

What a fabulous pub this is. Food is really high quality and good value. Staff are second to none. Can't find a single fault with the beer, atmosphere or food.....except that when we got there, we find they've run out of cheesecake!...it's so good it went early doors! Not to be missed if you're passing this way! Just fabulous views all across the Cheshire Plain. Wonderful place.
