About Denmans Restaurant

Denmans Restaurant at Shelf, near Halifax, is a beautifully appointed and intimate little venue that’s the perfect destination for couples and close friends. Chef-patron Robert Greenwood has worked all over the world learning his trade and his weekly changing menus showcase his skills with a selection of small seasonal plates based firmly around the best local produce. Typical plates include Gressingham duck bon bons with Asian chukawakame salad and hoi sin sauce and Lobster bisque tatter tots with jalapenos, pink pickles and coriander. Denmans is open from 6pm Wednesday to Saturday and on Wednesdays and Thursdays they run a special offer with five dishes for £40, 2-4-1 cocktails and 25% off house wine. The wine list offers plenty of choice and allergens can be catered for.

Our first visit but we will definitely be back. Food was outstanding and the atmosphere was warm and relaxing. One word of warning. The restaurant is in a WiFi black spot so we were unable to call a taxi. The staff ordered on our behalf but it didn’t arrive on time and we were repeatedly told it was on its way. After a long wait we gave up and walked out to find a signal to call one ourselves. If you intend to drink, pre-order your cab home.

We visited Denmans for the first time on Valentines Day. It is a charming place, with very friendly local staff, who made us feel welcome. The food was exceptional, small sharing plates of the highest quality, each one cooked well. We will definitely return.

Amazing food! great service and lovely staff! The place has a lovely vibe too it as well We came on valentines and had a lovely evening! I just need to mention the sweet potato wedges with goats cheese and honey , these are unlike any other, absolutely to die for! This is my favourite restaurant, I cant fault it!

We booked a Valentine’s meal online a few weeks in advance. We shared five dishes and enjoyed a bottle of prosecco. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely despite the busy restaurant. The service was good and the prices were fair for the quality of the food.
